Re: BP should NEVER be allowed to drill here EVER AGAIN......

Problem is that there are multiple companies involved and all share some responsibility. I agree with Geo, once you determine who is liable for what, its time to look at jail time and/or steep fines.

Thats true, but so many are involved they will be pointing at each other for years. They all have tons of money hit them all with big fines, then God forbid it should happen again, they will be jumping to get to the front of the line to tell whos at fault.

Am I the only one who thinks the government needs to step back and look at how they have handled this mess. I mean after the first couple weeks of bp dragging its feet and not want ing to do anything the gavernment should have stepped in and taken charge, then hit bp with bill. Afterall it is the U.S, mainly the fine people of the gulf coast that are suffering.

No your not the only one and as a matter of fact this adminstration finally looked at it and realized the beating they are taking in the public opinion polls.
They blew it big time...no question about it. Get ready for the big press by Barry and his boss (Nancy Pelosi) to start the smear campaign on Bush and Cheney for their part in this. Many administrations have served with oil drilling policies but yet we will be told it was Bush who enabled this accident...just wait and see. Actually it already started with some Lead Dems.
Just wanted to point out that when Katrina hit Bush was on the problem alot quicker than Barry was with this. When the 9/11 attacked happened Bush was on the ground within days maybe sooner again alot quicker than Barry.

Thats a very good point. What if BP decides it isnt worth it to clean up the mess they made and just go out of business, pack up their equipment and take off. What happens then? I heard something about this on my car radio yesterday that BP is saying if the American government expects them(BP) to pay about $70million for the damage and clean up that they cant afford that and will go out of business. So I can see that coming.

I hope they don't try that tactic. 70 million seems like a small figure to me...I just figured it would be more.
I do find it hard to believe that a figure like that could scare off a company that is so entrenched in our gubment's fuel and oil needs.

I guess this will be something for all the crook politicians in dc to point at each other and play the blame game. They sure do seem to be good at that. In the end, when all is said and done, we the people of this great nation will be paying the bill. It will be a raise in taxes, or some kind of grant that will be given to bp. The Americian people might as well bend over and grab our ankles......this is gonna hurt.....

I just watched obama's address. He had some good ideas and I hope he follows thru. But I go back to what I posted earlier, kill them with kindness or baffle them with bull****.

I couldn't bring myself to watch it since I just ate. Regardless of what was said I hope the cleanup continues to move forward.

And gas prices will go well over $4 a gallon.

Fine the crap out of them, make them pay every nickle lost to cleanup, and to folks that lost income and have property damage. And as a part of their settlement, require they sell gas at their gas stations at 20 cents below market value until all federally expended funds have been made up. In that way teh American taxpayer will get a return on some of what we will all pay to clean this up.
