Testing Out a New Depth Finder - Where to Go?

Plan on making a trip just for the day early next week to test out a new depth finder before a week long trip at KY later this month.

Coming from Lexington, where can we go to have the best success right now? Was considering Barren, Green, Cedar, open to suggestions ...

    Thanks Guys

To test out the depth finder I would suggest going to an idle speed lake so you can idle around the lake testing out the new unit.

good point, but I have not fished Green or Cedar in years and have never fished Barren so I figure wherever we end up will be a learning experience

the depth finder has the Navionics chip so we will also be testing that feature

Barren or Green would both work well. Both have shallow and deep areas as well as different types of underwater structure. Both also have a variety of bottom types such as gravel, sand, large rocks and of course mud. You should be able to tell these areas apart from one another as well as identifying the various types of structure if you have a purchased a quality depth finder.
