    Re: prius or other hybrid

I rode in a Hybrid highlander that was fast as crap. The funny thing is I never felt the tranny shift when we were on our way to WOT Is that right? How much different are those Hybrids? Anyone been in one and noticed that?
I mean from 10 mph to almost 100 mph it was smooth.

    Re: prius or other hybrid

My neighbor has one and says that he averaged 47 mpg over a 1,000 miles of driving. He has had it about a month now. I hope it does well because we purchased one today. My wife wanted something to get good gas milage and we made the purchase after talking with the neighbor. In a couple months I will know more, but have not talked to but one person who did not like them. The one guy is addicted to full size trucks. If gas goes to $5 or $6 a gallon I wonder how long it will take to change his mind.

    Re: prius or other hybrid

Since all I own are 4-wheel drive V8 Chevy's I can't chime in very much on the gas mileage concerns.

Over the years I have always suggested buying American if at all possible....but here in the recent past my perception of Union made products is...well, I'm "almost" to the point to where I'm thinking of no longer being bull headed about automobiles with my "buy American" attitude....if you can get a decent product for a decent price, regardless of whether or not it's American, Japanese or German you may as well buy it.

Every man for himself (I guess).

It may have had a CVT transmission. They never "shift". My wife's Jeep Patriot has one.
