Rough river

Does anyone know the water conditions at rough. I know its 10 foot up but is it muddy. Also how are the largemouth biting

water is high, and the fish aren't biting.

crappie are bitting good you just have to find them. I think most of them are being caught in tuells creek. Hybrids are at it in full force we caught them on night crawlers and chiken livers from the bank. You can also catch them from the sandy flats using rattle traps. Here is how i found to do it ancor your boat on the flat and cast into the creek chanel let you're bait hit bottom and reel back in slow keeping the lure just above the bottom. This method catches some of the bigger fish. bluegills are bitting good and the bigger ones are in the downed trees, Big bluegills in rough you say! Yes there there trust me.
I didn't give you any color or size of rattle trap to use because it will change all day long and there is no one do all color for me.
The big bluegills I use jigs tiped with wax worms or red worms but take sturdy fishing takle because the bass like them too.
water temps are going up every day and i think alot of the bass are either starting to or are nesting depends on the water temps were you are..

went sunday, pretty windy, water is way up. not muddy at all .Caught 9 with 5 keepers. we caught 7 on a black n blue jig with a blue paca chunk trailer. the other 2 were on a black worm witha chartruese tail. hope this helps

Which end of the lake were are the hybrids hitting "at full force"?

Bigger fish would be over 7 lb. I have been catching them in the south part as well as the north part toward axtel.

Haha...just thought I'd try again. You are a tough one!

I haven't been able to get up there as of late, but last spring we killed them between the dam and Laurel on that cut-through stretch with the old road bed.

I made a promis to the guy and believe me I have told you guy's more then i have rob and he and I fish together a lot. But i did through you a bone. "Close to Axtel". Another good way to catch them is look for the wind blowing towards a steep rocky bank and fish close to the bank. The wind will blow the shad toward the bank and the hybrids will lay under them..

I meant to say what do you consider Big Bluegill, sorry.
I've only very rarely caught any over 7"

Yes you did say close to Axtel...along with the north and south ends of the lake...haha. Just giving ya a hard time, not looking for your honey hole, just generalities. I'll probably head up there next week and try my standard spots, should have some fish there by now. I'll report back when I do.

Oh yeah...thanks for the advice on the steep rocky banks...I'll keep that in mind.

I have caught bluegill in rough that were all i can do to get my hand around them to get the hook out . I caught one last year that was 10 1/2" while crappie fishing. I let it go because it was a female. bluegills over 7" is pretty big.
