Re: woohoo got me a Alabama Rig

I didn't know what the "Alabama Rig" was so I did a google search and read up on it. Umbrella Rigs have been around for a long time but are not legal in all states. Some states limit how many hooks or baits you can have on each line and also how many lines you can fish at once. Three poles are all that's allowed in IN and each pole can't have more than two baits or hook sets on the line from what I remember. I'll have to check on the rules again to make sure and I would recommend that everyone know the rules for the waters you fish too.

My google search said that the Alabama Rig would be allowed in TN. So if you fish KY lake you will have to fish in the TN part of the lake. A good bay to check out is the Cypress Bay right on the KY/TN boarder and on the West Side of KY lake near Bucannan, TN. I've fished this area many years ago.

The Alabama Rig is NOT legal for use in the state of Tennessee. It is however legal to use in Kentucky, so if fishing Ken Lake or Barkley just make sure you stay above the bridge. Each state does differ on their laws so if you are going to be throwing the A-Rig do make sure that you check that state's law.

Alabama Rig is ILLEGAL in TN. Sorry for any confusion. I read it wrong on the web site and rechecked it again after reading the post below mine.

They can be a usefull tool when around schoolers,so some activity must be present and if in Tn use three baits with hooks only, not five.

Seems to be a heck of thing to cast with 4-5 baits hanging off it . Looked them up on ebay and tons of people are making and selling them . Some look really good and run about $20 . Might try it next summer for schooling bass .
