Have they gone nuts in Washington?

I'm surprised nobody's posted about the Super Committee's failure to accomplish a single thing, maybe because they haven't "officially" announced that yet, or maybe because it's only going to produce the same old pointless argument about why that is, which in the end changes nobody's thinking or really accomplishes much of anything besides throwing barbs. I'll keep my thoughts on the subject out of this first post, because I think we can all agree that it's a failure by EVERYBODY in Washington. And some on here won't like me using a CNN link, but this writer doesn't blame one side or the other either:

I blame them ALL............I hate to say it but this has nothing to do with debt, taxes, or budgets........

ALL of them SOB's on the hill are worried about their actions causing them not to get re elected.........I say SCREW THEM. Everyone on the super committee.......GONE.

I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. As a country we need to DEMAND that we pass some legislation enforcing term limits. I'd go as far to say that Federal Judges and Supreme Court judges should be included in those limits.

I'm SICK of **** not getting done because those doing simply don't have the stomach or are concerned for their own skin. CAREER POLITICIANS should be forced to find another CAREER...........

    GRRRRRR..

And I will be the FIRST to say it............those SOB Republicans who are trying to change the rules with automatic cuts........THEY SHOULD GO FIRST.........

Like I said.......I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. The country is melting down, the world is melting down, unemployment is out of control, debt is out of control.

    CUT, CUT, CUT...........Tax, Tax, Tax......I don't give a CRAP.........do SOMETHING........

Re: Have they gone nuts in Washington?

The uh 'Super' committee was never intended to succeed, the appointment of that committee was pure politics. It was formed so President Obama could do just what he's doing right now: point the finger of blame at Republicans.

The gulf between the right and left is bigger than ever.

The Dems are further left than ever in history, and the GOP is solidly on the right. Both of them are that way because the voters are more polarized than ever. Not too many moderates out there, at least any who'll admit it.

The Dems voters want to tax and spend the country into a European style social democracy, and the GOP voters want the same America we've always had.

The Dems have done a great job convincing a large portion of America that if we just tax the 'rich' more we'll be just fine. Never mind the absolutely idiotic levels of spending during the period they totally controlled the government, and the fact the government could confiscate ALL the 'rich' peoples' money and it wouldn't make a dent. They've shifted the blame using class warfare and attributing all ills to Wall Street greed.

It escapes me how anyone who thinks federal spending needs to be controlled could even consider voting Democrat. Step one when they got complete control of the legislative and executive branches of the government was to pass an 850 BILLION dollar spending bill without even reading it. Over 3/4 of a TRILLION DOLLARS WITHOUT EVEN READING THE BILL. Stimulus my ass. It's been record levels of spending since, despite the miserable economy and unemployment rate.

The President's answer? More taxing, and yes, more spending.

Thankfully the voters did something about it and put a Republican majority into the house, so at least there is some resistance to the Washington spending machine. Not that the Republicans are much better, they'd be helping Mr. Obama and the Dems spend our money like drunken sailors if they weren't afraid we'd vote em out.

All I can say is the Republicans I voted for dang well better not compromise an inch. The deficit spending has got to stop NOW, and the cutting has to start NOW.

Next November elect a President who can actually lead, and get rid of Harry freakin Reid as Senate majority leader.

Let the Democrats and CNN/MSNBC/NBC/ABC/CBS say what they will, don't raise ANYONE's taxes, cut the federal government to the bone, and let this great country get back on track.

    Rant over.

I agree Jim the spending spree that everyone griped about when these guys had two branches of gubment seems to be a past memory to alot of Americans. Maybe because its not been mentioned enough in the national news? My hope is that it gets hammered down his throat during the potus debates and if its Newt doing the pushing obamy will be in trouble.....Our memory is short and the media will assist in that if they want a certain party in power.

The spend to get out of debt and tax tax tax is where I have a problem with obamy.....and when it comes to politics he acts like a big spoiled rotten baby. He is so quick to blame others and toss smoke screens when he doesn't get what he wants or knows he better do that so others can't see what he is trying to do.

Yep, memory is short. Bush started the spending spree while reducing taxes, thus starting us down this path. Obama tried to out do Bush in the spending department. Congress, who pulls the purse strings, did nothing to curtail any of that. Now we are in a mess. Time for a whole lot of them to go.

I think you'll find that there are plenty of folks who dislike the far left of the dems as much as the far right of the repubs. A third party that is somewhere close to the middle would scare the hell out of both parties and likely have a good shot.

There's one thing I don't quite understand. You speak as though the Democrats have refused to make any spending cuts, which is not true. The Democrats are willing to compromise and make spending cuts, but think they need to be accompanied by some tax increases. It's the Republicans who have refused to compromise, citing Grover Norquist's tax pledge that they've all signed, and which has them all by the cojones. As I recall, "the same America we've always had" is one in which both sides compromise, which the Republicans, not the Democrats, are refusing to do. Like I said before, I don't want to let the Democrats off the hook, because the scope of the cuts needs to be larger than they seem to be comfortable with, but they're at least willing to TALK about cuts. As soon as the tax increases get mentioned (which are inevitable), the Republicans close their ears.

Why do you think the government needs more money? Where specifically would you suggest they spend the additional funds.

Personally, I think the government needs less money. They've proven enough times they can't handle money at all.

I would "suggest" that they spend the money on the services that survive the spending cuts, which are also necessary if we are to have any hope of even reducing, let alone eliminating, the deficit. But cutting spending ALONE won't do it. Reducing revenue, as you suggest, guarantees we pass this huge deficit on to the next generation.

I wish it was that simple. I just don't think it is. I have also heard it's the Democrats who won't budge on anything that doesnt expand the gobment and tax the millionaires. GOP stands against that and I agree. So who is right? I agree the Dems cannnot be let off the hook as well as the GOP not being let off since they too have had a hand in this.

I also believe this whole thing was a setup so he can use this as a reelection talking point. I had no faith they could get this done and I firmly believe he knew it wouldnt get done either. He played the american people for his hope on getting re-elected. He knew the super committee would do the same as him....nothing!

So now it will be the GOP's fault that we are in this mess. His class warfare folks(occupy wallstreet) have hit the airwaves for months about the wealthy getting off easy. He blames the GOP for not dealing with the Dems in the S.C. and just keeps telling Congress to get it done or else. Nice play Mr, Dictator. Or else what? Another Executive Order? Another Czar?

I apologize but I have to add this....this Obama Basketball Classic sickens me. I mean geez we really need a basketball game named after a potus? And for his re-election campaign???? I do feel like we are being controlled by a dictator. Of course our country is going in the wrong direction on sooo many fronts and he is gonna do this? Excellent way to lead by example....Ayatollah Obamy!
