Barkley is currently spilling, but a week from now, who knows? Unless we get a bunch more rain up river I expect they will start raising the lakes a week or so from now.

I'm headed down next weekend.
I see they are spilling KY.....are they also spilling Barkley.....I couldn't find that info.
I've not been fishing since December and man, oh MAN......I'm pumped to do some.
Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Geo

Dad and I fished the past weekend and did fair on bass. The fish weren't overly aggressive but most were caught shallow and scattered. The lakes are warming fast as we saw base water temps in the mid-60s in the morning jumping to the upper 60s to 70 surface temps in the afternoon. I joked on a post a few weeks back about them spawning in March but I think it may come true if this continues. The thing that blew my mind is we usually catch quite a few crappie shallow when they come up to spawn but didnt this week end. I guess with the change in water levels they must still be staying out...

Wind predictions for Friday, Sat, Sun.........
Tomorrow: South Southwest 8 with gusts to 20.
Saturday: West 16 with gusts to 30........
Sunday: North.......8 gusts to 16..........
No matter........I've GOT a plan![]()
Caught 30 + catfish today in a steady rain below KY Dam in 3.5 hours using cut bait.Drift fishing in 35 feet of water. We also caught 8 stripers using live shad.Would have been a great day to have had a "decent" rainsuit!!!
Even though no one felt they needed to share any information....I'm NOT into those games.....
We caught fish friday, saturday, sunday. Solid numbers and some solid fish. No fish over 4 but plenty of 2.5's and quite a few 3's.
Fish were caught on shakey worms. I did catch a handful of fish on crankbaits, but not many. I also broke off a SERIOUS fish in Pisqua on a red eye shad. If anybody sticks that particular 7 or 8 lb fish, I 'd like my red eye shad back.....it was brand new, had only 1 cast on it........
While some fish are shallow, we didn't catch very many fish shallow. Primary points in 12-18 ft of water was the major method we used to catch fish. We also caught some fish on secondary points headed to where they are going to be doing their business.
We had a STRONG evening and morning bite every day.
Finally.....I did manage a couple blowups on a sammie, but didn't get any hookups.
Later,
Geo
No one....lol. Glad you had a good trip.
