Yes,Obama threw some money out there for a few new highway projects, but I drive around the state in lesser traveled areas frequently and there are a whole bunch of roads in terrible disrepair.Fact is those Obama backed "Put America Back To Work" highway jobs only employ a small sector of Out of Work Construction workers,Home Building Industry is the slowest I've seen since pre-1980,the Commercial Construction Industry is slightly better, but because of increased lowball bidding knocks the majority out of big projects,Obama has done everything he can to regulate Coal Miners and connected trades out of a job, raising our electric bills sky high coming to you soon.
There is intense competition over mediocre paying jobs, kids coming out of high school are screwed, kids graduating from college are having a terrible time finding decent employment, suddenly Obama after FOUR LONG YEARS OF MISERY decides he has a plan to bring back jobs, funny he cared more about spending us into debt and forcing a healthcare plan NOBODY WANTS on us,while exempting the House,Senate, and his Union Buddies from Obamacare. That's right, the POS Obama gives waivers to Unions exempting them from paying into Obamacare,BS.

Government Construction Spending Plummets to Nearly 7-Year Low
    http://www.governing.com/blogs/by-the-numbers/government-construction-spending-data.html

Sounds to me like while government tax revenues are up, the government isn't spending it on construction and infrastructure....they're spending it on Medicaid costs and underfunded pensions, or building their reserves back up.

Construction spending had been rising dramatically until about 2007, when it totally imploded and dropped back to levels not seen since the late 90's. Now, it's back up slightly to about the levels we were seeing in 2001-2002.

Bright side, private construction spending is at least improving...which is another bellweather indicator that the economy may be slowly getting better...but I think it's a stretch to call it "Good" yet.

The economy is far from good....the "real number" of unemployed and underemployed is probably something like 27 Million (crappy June jobs report)....the Central Banks have lowered interest rates in July, which points to the possibility of preemptive action before an impending downturn....and business inventories rose 0.3% in May, compared to sales that fell -0.1%. (That's a negative indicator for business.)

I follow a website called "The Economic Populist" which tends to cut to the chase and not spew a bunch of partisan crap. They look at economic indicators and facts.

Indiana and Tennessee both have Republican Governors and Indiana Governor came in and really turned Indiana around it is even a right to work state he also cut regulations and taxes and made it a very friendly state to do business in. We should duplicate what Indiana has done at the National level but Obama is doing just the opposite.

I work downtown Louisville.......in the city where they repave Main Street every few years if it NEEDS it or not.

I kid you NOT, there are no less than 8 people of a freakin crew down there every morning, afternoon and dinner "working". I have not seen more than 1 or 2 people doing ****........I never knew it took 8 people to dig a freakin hole.

1 to dig, 2 to watch him dig. 1 to talk on the walkie to some other fool down the road walking around, and two sitting around JAWING.

You want to know why 124 million could not build a doghouse.........THERE YOU GO.

Get the freakin unions out of it. I'd love to see some NON Union jobs actually getting done in this area. Maybe they are, but I can guarantee you these folks were not non union or fixed bid.

I watched a Jobs show on Fox about jobs around the country that cannot be filled.

There is a company in Allentown, PA, that has 600 jobs available and have HAD those jobs for 18 months. These are not chump jobs either. 17-20 starting.

The owner got so desperate for workers, that he went to the local HS, and told them that he'd guarantee at least 50 jobs a year FOREVER, if the school would reinstate a building trades program.

Guess what.....the School did, and most of the seniors in that trades school are employees of his shop part time. They make more than their parents.

I have a HUGE issue with thinking that everyone needs a 4yr degree or a college education to be successful or have a great job. There will always been a need for people to fix the crap that breaks, or to build the projects that are designed by those "college educated" folks.

I would have NO problem with the Obamunists spending a few billion dollars on creating a building trades program again. Imagine if 1 or 2 billion of those dollars spent bailing out banks a few years ago had been used to educate some folks on basic skills.

Geo this is why I hate paying taxes first they take .70 out of every dollar just to collect it and spend it then the .30 that is left they do not spend it on what I think is important. I hate to see my tax dollars wasted. I want a say where my tax dollars are spent. We need a much much smaller federal government and more money at the state level and more money at the local level, the closer to home the politician is; the better control you have over your tax money.
