    Greenwood area of ohio river

I know many of us fish the river so I thought I would give some info. Striper were biting well on cutbait and livers. The cats were hitting on about anything you threw out. The more obvious fished spots there were producing a good number of fish. We were also able to catch a ton of baby skipjack on a sabiki(sp) and about every fish was hitting on the skips whole and cut. Tried drift fishing a bit and actually did better with still water fishing. But the fishing was excellent and I am burnt to a crisp. But it was well worth it. I know people are having trouble finding bait fish so I figured I would let you know that the smoke stacks by the greenwood boat ramp have plenty of small 3-6 inch skipjack. Hope this helps a few of you guys out.

congrats on your goo day of fishing....whoop up on em when you can

but i have to be honest here....IM CONFUSED

i still dont understand why folk would travel all the way to Cland from regions far far away , to fish for stripers that measure usually between 22-27 inches. Not to mention the sheer amount of work of getting live bait, or buying live bait, or working your tail off deploying, redeploying downriggers and trying to find fish on a 52,000 acre lake. When you can toss out a peice of cut shad on the ohio river within sight of the louisville slugger factory and catch stripers all day long, not to mention those big cats , and the hybrids, and the sauger. ???
    What am i missing ?
I want to come and fish the ohio river for petes sake

I only fish Cumberland for the nite bite in the spring, to me it is like a six year old going to Dinsey world.

Glad to help you guys out. Most of the striper caught were about 5lbs. Which is a good striper to me. I have only caught a 10lb, 8lb, and 7lb striper as my biggest stripers. But that's a whole lot of fun to me. I hope you guys get a chance to get some fresh live bait and catch the fish your going after. I too have struggled with finding bait this year. And my frozen baits are just not working for me. Good luck my fellow fishing comrades!
