    fall selection

What's everyone's go to baits for the fall? This has been a tough year for fishing so I can't wait for the water temps to drop.

I'm headed to KY lake next weekend...........I armed the boat today.

1). Red Eye Shad - I will be throwing the crap out of this. Especially if I find schools of fish running baitfish. If I'm picking up smaller fish, then I will slow it down.....or switch to something deeper.

2). Bomber 200 thru 500 series - I love bomber crankbaits. I have two different ones tied onto two rods. a 300 and an 500 series. These are great for those deeper balls of shad, where the whites and yellows are SCREWING with ya.

3). Spinnerbait - In this case, I'm using a hopped up rocket shad. Nothing is like the packaged JUNK you get. I change the hook and skirt, and put on a bigger blade or a willow leaf.

4). Swimbait - Yea. a BIG Hammer swimbait. I love those......and in the fall, when they are chasing shad, there is nothing better.

5). Shaky Head - If things get tough and they are not chasing, a shaky head will put fish in the boat, padding the numbers, and every once in a while, it puts BIG fish in the boat.

6). Texas rigged Worm - A texas rig is always required. I use it in place of the shaky if they are not so skittish.

7). Jig - I always keep a jig tied on. If you miss a fish with a shaky or a crankbait, or Trap, you can usually go back to the same spot and stick it with the jig. Not always, but sometimes.

8). Sammy - I will have a Sammy tied on for early and late. I will only throw this if it is overcast and rainy, or first light for 2 hrs, and at dusk until complete DARKNESS. That early morning bite is stellar. 2 weeks ago, I pounded some fish on the Sammy.

    Man, I'm DYING..........

    Geo

Many baits may work better in the moment but when all that dies off I will pick a jig up.

I really don't have a go to bait. I pick a lure to use depending on whats at hand such as temps winds current if water is clear are stained ect ect... but I do got to say I love that!!! topwater bite!!! nothing like a big ole bass blowing up!! making a sound such as a toilet flushing!!! lol:-) god!! love it!! gets the heart pumping:-))

it is not quite a Zara Spook as a Spook doesn't have the uptilted nose.
