Alabama Rig Setup?

What length of rod and power is needed to throw a 5 lure rig, what gear ratio on reel and lb test braid line?
I am getting ready to build me a rod and want to make sure I don't under power the setup.

I have not had too much experience, but the rod I use is a 8ft med/heavy action rod. It is actually considered a light catfish rod. But it throws the weight well. I use a faster retrieve reel because I used the free fall bait method the most, it seems to work well for me. Or when bouncing the bait toward the bottom. And I would recommend using at least a 50lb braid. I typically use 65lb, but that is just to get my rig back when hung up. Power pro braid is my favorite. But trilene has came out with a braid I will be trying out this year. Hope this helps.

You may want to look into the Alabama Flash mob rig. Suppose to be a lot better than the original rig. Its a little smaller with willow or Colorado blades. I'd go with nothing less than 30lb braid.
