    Taylorsville Lake turnover

Does anyone know if Taylorsville has completed the fall turnover yet? Was wanting to try for some Blue cats if the thermocline has dropped. Any help please?????

According to the COE temp & DO profile of 10/1 ... the "thermocline" (per se) would be at 35ft. The more alarming measure on that profile is the DO readings, albeit taken from the dam area, which read at 2.77 at surface and 2.08 at 35ft deep. That's pretty stagnant and likely the reason I've caught fish through the first couple of weeks of Oct., in less than 5ft of water. Hopefully the more recent cooler weather trend and rains have done something positive to these exceptionally weak dissolved oxygen numbers.

    Here's my source of info : http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/Missio...leProfile.aspx

The lake is basically at Winter Pool, and has been for the past several weeks (if not slightly below that).

I can't give you any relative info as it relates to Blue Cats, but I have been getting reports that the Crappie are in depths of 15-20ft and starting to school up.

thanks for the info. It seems hard for me to believe o2 levels that low. I winder if that was a mistake measurement. I would think a lot of big fish would die with that low of o2

I don't know, KRB ... but, if it's taken at the dam, with the extremely low output rate they've had, there's little to no current to push the upper lake water towards the dam. The O2 levels are probably higher in other parts of the lake, where the wind & boat traffic stirs things up a lot more than what happens around the dam, but that's just a guess on my part.
