Pictures from the Areas hit by hurricanes in Central and Eastern Florida

Of course I almost wrecked pulling over to get this picture. It says it all about the resilience of the people of Florida. Everyone I talked too was in a good mood, despite their hardships. Insurance Companies were gathered in trailers working with homeowners, FEMA was everywhere, working to help those whose homes were destroyed. Many credit the preplanning of the Federal Government and Governor Bush before the Hurricanes with minimizing the affect of the people of the area.

A typical Billboard in Florida. This one was in the Titusville Area.

The Florida Orange Groves took a heavy hit. Trees in this orchard were not damaged very much, but the fruit was knocked off of most of them, as well the leaves.

The symbol of the hurricane. The Damaged sign. Most restaurants are open and operating. However most gas stations are missing the Awnings over the gas pumps, and almost EVERY McDonalds looked like the one above.
A typical Gass Station Awning.

US 50 in Orlando. Still has water from a lake on both sides of the road.

St. Johns River about 9 feet over normal levels.
Damage to some of the buildings between Titusville and Sebastian Inlet.
