LAKE HARTWELL IS DOWN 2.7 FEET, 87 DEGREES AND CLEAR

Bass fishing down lake is fair but the bite is better up both rivers. Anglers are catching largemouth around the larger docks with Flukes in pearl and a larger Senko in green pumpkin. Skip these baits under the docks and let them fall all the way to the bottom. Most bites will occur on the fall, so be ready. Off deep points, the 1/2 to 3/4 once Carolina rigs are working when using a watermelon red Zoom U tale worm. Scent the bait up good with garlic for that extra bite. Look for areas where the channel comes close to the bank and try a drop-shot rig. Fishing deep this time of the year is not uncommon for bass. Always stay alert for small schools of bass chasing bait. A Spook or Pop R can draw bass to these noisy baits. Cast a white Rooster Trail to any schooling fish but there are some line sides that will take these baits especially down lake on humps with wind on them.
