LAKE SEMINOLE IS DOWN .6 FEET, 53 DEGREES, STAINED BY MATT BATY
Bass fishing is fair and will only get better as it warms up this week. Fish are still being caught near their spawning areas, such as the sandbars in Spring Creek and Fish Pond Drain. Fish the ditches and deep water ponds that are near sand. Use a crank bait such as a Spro Little John DD in Cell Mate color on fluorocarbon line and a good crank it rod like a 7' Falcon Bucoo crank bait rod. Use the crank bait to find a school of fish, and when they slow down on the crank bait bite, switch to a Carolina rigged with a 6" Big Bite Baits Kriet Kreature in green pumpkin red. Make sure you use a big hook like a Gamakatsu 5/0 Offset Shank, because the Kriet Kreature has a big profile. The bass are ready to spawn, as some reports of bedding bass have been seen on the lake this week. When the weather warms and gets more stable, expect to see a major spawn on Lake Seminole. When bass move up on the beds, there is no better bait to catch a bedding bass than a white 3" Big Bite Baits Fighting Frog. Bass will absolutely inhale this bait almost every time it hits a bed.

LAKE SINCLAIR IS FULL, 49 DEGREES, STAINED BY ROGER MCKEE, 706 342 8555
Largemouth bass fishing has improved over the past week and will continue to improve with the stable weather forecasted. We are in the early stages of the pre-spawn with fish moving up on points and flats next to or near the area they will spawn when water temperature reaches above 60 degrees. Look for fish in the larger creeks with Rapala Shad Raps, Gulp Balsa wood cranks, Spro Little Johns, etc. Later in the day cast a spinnerbait with a thumper blade next to deeper docks, seawalls and grass lines. Fish a rattle trap or other lipless crank bait in the same areas with a lift and drop retrieve. Remember the water is still cold and the fish's metabolism is still on the slow side. the upcoming weekend will have a rather large tournament trail and other bass clubs on the water, so be sure to practice safety and be courteous. Don't leave the dock without your personal flotation device strapped on and watch for the other guy.

Lake Oconee, Georgia's first experience with a slot size limit for largemouth bass
Report Updated
March 5, 2010
LAKE OCONEE IS FULL, 50 DEGREES AND STAINED
Bass fishing is poor. The surface water temperature has risen to 48 degrees and some 50 degree water can be found in the coves and creeks throughout the lake. Obviously the 50 degree water is a great sign. Fish the main lake points with Rapala #5 or #7 crankbaits or a Carolina rig with a Zoom lizard. Hit the main lake docks and the first few docks entering the coves with a jig, or Texas rig. Fish very slowly and stay in touch with your line. The fish are still lethargic but they will bite. A small swim bait fished extremely slow around main lake docks is producing some fish.

JACKSON LAKE IS DOWN 5.9 FEET, LIGHT STAINED AND 45 DEGREES, BY ED CAVENDER.
Bass fishing is fair to good Jackson Lake. The lake is relatively clear throughout. Shallow crank bait fishing is good early and late in the day or any time the light is low. Increased water clarity will move fish deeper or under docks on a clear day. Deep Net Boy football jigs and shakey head finesse worms will produce on deeper fish. Vertical tactics such as spoons and drop shot baits can produce deep and suspended fish. Jerk baits also come into play with increased water clarity and a little wind. The crank bait bite is in 3 to 6 foot of water, and can be found shallow on flat clay bottom with chunk rock and other hard bottom. South to west points, cuts and flats should be targeted. Flat sided baits like a Little John or lipless baits can be good choices. A No 7 Shat Rap will work well. The water color is right for natural shad, craw, and pearl colored baits.

LAKE RUSSELL IS DOWN 2.8 FEET, 45 DEGREES AND STAINED
Bass fishing is still sow but it is about to warm up. Bass have bunched up and built a fire on the old ponds dams and the road beds. They are slow to react to anything and fishing is almost at a standstill with the weather. Try a spoon in the trees or on the under water humps and dams, but don’t expect much. Winds have been high and have churned up the waters all over the lake. The jigs and spoons are fair and later in the day go to a crawfish colored crank bait. Keep the 1/2 ounce Hopkins spoon or the Little George handy and work it on the road beds. Look in the lower lake creek bends and use the Zoom u tail pumpkinseed lizard or worm. The short Carolina rig will be fair, and get the baits into the heaviest cover and on the old creek beds. There are huge stumps on these old creeks and the winter bass spend all day tight on them. Up the river, jigs in the 1/2 ounce sizes in all black with a brown trailer is the best bait for a big bass. Stay just off the channels and close to the current.

CLARKS HILL IS DOWN 3.3 FEET, 44 DEGREES AND STAINED
Bass fishing is slow and the water is still cold. Spoons in the 1/2 ounce sizes are the best winter time lures in and over old trees and natural structure. Watch for any suspended fish and hit them in the head with a spoon. It will be hard to get strikes all week. Spoons in the 1/2 ounce sizes are the best winter time lures in and over old trees and natural structure. Watch for any suspended fish and hit them in the head with a spoon. the deeper structure and it’s slow. look to the creek mouths and use spoons and jigs and fish the deep heavy brush and the standing timber. Use dark lizards or a French fry worm on a light Texas rig and small hooks. Light line will be a good choice and slow presentations will keep baits right in the strike zones.

LAKE WEISS IS DOWN 2.96 FEET, STAINED AND 43 DEGREES BY MARK COLLINS GUIDE SERVICE
Bass fishing is great and some good largemouth are being caught in really shallow water from 1 to 4 feet of water way back in the creeks in the upper lake. The water in the mouth of the creeks is stained, as you go deeper in however, the water clears and there lie the fish. They have gathered in the clear water and hanging off of submerged tree tops and hanging at confluences of submerged creek channels. Shallow running crank baits and jigs are catching these fish. Secondary points and shallow brush in the bays of the main lake are producing some good bass on Rat L Traps and shallow running crank baits like the new Gizz3 and Gizz4. The spotted bass are active and they are showing up on gravel or rocky secondary points. Rat L Traps, crank baits and spinner baits are catching these pre spawn fish.
Striper fishing is fair and they have started their migration up the Chattooga River and the Coosa River, cut shad on the bottom on a Carolina rig is a great way to catch these pre spawn fish. A few stripers are starting to be caught behind plant Hammond and at the Mayo Lock and Dam below Rome Georgia.
Crappie fishing is great and some good stringers of fish are starting to be caught trolling. Little River and Little Spring Creek are producing some good trolling action on 1/24th ounce Jiffy Jigs in colors JJ12, JJ13, JJ15, JJ17, JJ20, JJ24. The Riverside area is also producing some fish trolling. The lower Chattooga River is producing some fair stringers on a float and fly technique with Jiffy Jigs about 6 ft deep on the edges of the old river channel, Goodyear cove in the Chattooga river is producing some fish trolling.
Jiffy Jigs Largest Crappie contest! Come fish with me and have a chance to win a $50.00 dollar prize sponsored by JIFFY JIGS. The largest Crappie caught in my boat each month in March will win the prize.

LAKE GEORGE/EUFAULA IS 2 FEET OVER FULL, 48 DEGREES & MUDDY
Bas fishing is picking up and it’s about to warm up. Look to the old stumps rows and brush under the deeper docks and use worms and jigs and be patient. Dark colors in both baits will be best. Spoons on and around the old marina tires will be fair, and drop the baits all the way to the bottom. Work the spoons in the 1/2 ounce size and Sidewinders and use 12 pound test line and a bait casting rod and work the bait slowly from the bottom up through the fish. Shad schools will be important and if the shad are smaller, go to the smaller spoons later each day. Bass are in the mouths of the main lake and main river creeks and the bass will be very tight on deep cover, and slow presentations are required. Stay on the heavy brush on points and docks on the lake. Use Stanley jig in brown and blacks in the 1/2 ounce jig and a larger Pro Pork Trailer by Uncle Josh, on the heavy cover.
