Lake Cumberland Fishing Report July 17, 2010
lake Cumberland fishing report for July 17th, 2010. The water temp is close to 90 degrees on the surface most days and the weather has been hot. The striper fishing has also been hot for close to 2 months. Good sized schools of fish have been found on the main lake and the mouth of the major creeks. Surprisingly the fish are still 25 to 40 feet deep most days. Most years I am fishing close to 50 feet most days by now. Alewife herring have been the bait of choice with gizzard shad a close second. The walleye fishing has been a little slower than normal at least for the people I have talked to. They should be on the main lake points and flats 12 to 25 feet deep. Summer patterns for bass have been pretty good also. Most of the serious bass fishermen fish at night with jigs or worms fished 10 to 30 feet. Good luck and enjoy the rest of the summer.
