Lake Conroe Fishing Report  Updated July 22, 2010

Fishing on Lake Conroe is good. The water is clear and the water level is below pool at 200.69. The water temperature is running around 90 degrees in the main lake.

Black bass fishing has been real good. They are biting best on soft plastics and crank baits early at 3 to 5 feet and can be found later in the day around boat docks, breakwaters, pond dams and other structure from 12 to 18 feet deep.

Crappie fishing has slowed way down. They are over brush piles in water 17 to 25 feet deep and around the bridge pylons. Minnows and also jigs are both good baits right now.

Catfishing is good right now. They can be caught in 18 feet to 30 feet of water on baited holes. A lot of fingerlings are being caught right now in channel and blue cats. Catfish Killer Punch Bait on a treble hook fished 2 to 3 inches off the bottom is working well. Some catfish are suspended at from 3 to 9 feet off the bottom. They are ranging from 1 1/2 to around 5 lbs. Chicken livers, minnows and shrimp are also catching some catfish.

Larger catfish, mostly blues can be caught using Texas Catfish Bait Soap, fresh shad and or cut beef heart or cut perch on Catfish Killer`s Flagging Juglines in from 11 to 40 feet of water. Flagging Jugs may be ordered off the website for $6.00 each or you may order from www.texascatfishjuglines.com. A new bait soap recently developed made with lye soap and cheese may be ordered from www.texascatfishbaitsoap.com and works wonders on rod and reel, Juglines and trotlines.

Hybrids and white bass are chasing shad right now. They are down to 18 to 23 feet deep on main lake humps and trolling along points is good. Trolling with a Pet Spoon behind deep diving crank baits is good.

Bream are at about any depth right now around boat docks and some brush around 17 to 25 feet deep. The best baits are, Glow Worms or Mighty Mealy worms on a very small hook.
