    saltwater trolling motor question

Hey guys, got kind of a dumb question. I'm getting ready to go down to Florida, at the relatives house I'm staying at we've got use of a 18 foot bass boat. He's retired and only uses the boat for freshwater fishing at the lake the house is on. Personally I could care less about freshwater but we're about 45 minutes away from some of the best flats fishing in florida. Do you think it'd be OK to use the trolling motor or would the saltwater do something to it? It's never been run in saltwater and I'd hate to ruin his trolling motor. I've asked him and he's not sure whether it's OK or not. Thanks for your input, Ted

I would be more concerned with the outboard, the salt will corrode the the aluminum inside the motor water jacket's and could effect the anode's on the lower unit. make sure you flush everything out real good.

Rent a boat for the dayy............or get a guide.........Not worth the cost of potentially messing something up.
