    Tournaments Illegal?

I have heard that some Ky. officals will not allow you to collect and pay out money on state owned ramps. The claim is that this is gambling. Has anyone had this happen to them, let me know.
    Thanks

    RE: Tournaments Illegal?

When I fish a tournament, I don't consider it gambling, it's more like a charitable donation to my fellow anglers. Kidding aside, I do remember a thread on here about some lake where you weren't allowed to have money change hands in the parking lot.

    Yep

Kentucky state park ramps and parking lots may not be used to pay out tournament winnings. Tournaments are legal (see each lake restrictions, i.e., Cave Run Lake) but money changing hands on park property is not.

While tourneys are legal (check each lakes rrestrictions, i.e., Cave Run Lake) winning pay-outs in the ramp area & parking lot are not allowed.

    RE: Tournaments Illegal?

Guist Creek Lake ramp had the post about the money exchanging hands at the ramp. We had a tourny there around the same time and had no problem, so i'm not sure what the problem was.

    Statute or Regulation??

Do you know the statute or regulation that prohibits this?

Seems odd that the regulations would allow a Tournament to be held on the lake but prohibit the pay-out or collection of Money on site.

    seems suspicious.....

I would think if it were illeagal, there would have been something done at the BFLs in the LBL. I know when I used to fish it, there was no problems, plus I have fished a lot of other tournaments that pay at the ramp and they are all almost out of the state ramps, then add to that the fact there is a new tournament ramp the state built across from Mineral Mounds.

I just can's see the state facilitating the tournaments, then prohibiting the natural conclusion of the event, i.e. the money pay out.

    RE: Yep

Too bad, that they approve money changing hands when you have to pay launch fees.

If It Is 100% payout there is not a problem,It Is
when you keep money for the club or the year end
classic that they say you can not pay at the ramp
