Scott Brown,
Lookin for info on what Colleges have actual teams in the College Bass Fishing Tournaments. I fished tournaments back in the 80's when this College thing took off between Purdue and Indiana University annually on Lake Monroe in Indiana.

Hey man can you forward that email to me. I have heard some stuff on it but not much. Sorry I havn't been to meeting as of late...when is the next one? You going to Dallas?
Cody and Clayton are going to Dallas. The email was just telling me to call him, that's about it. He's sending an info packet that we'll look at and discuss during our next meeting. We have the meeting room reserved for Mondays at 4:45 to 6:45, just need to pick a date (Oct.2 is out due to ABA Nationals, Oct. 16 is out due to FOX). I'd say the next available date would be Oct. 23. Cody has been rounding up new members and doing what he can with everyone since he's on campus more than me. Our fist ABA opportunity will be October 21 and October 22 - both on Taylorsville Lake. We have several members looking to fish it.
Let me know what's going on with you! I've been looking to hit up the Sportsman's Club sometime. I'd like to fish and shoot some trap - missed a bunch of wood ducks this weekend and need to practice up before the real season starts! Give me a call sometime since you never answer my calls! What a dork! Ha ha ha!
Did anyone watch Ultimate Match Fishing this week with Peter T and Paul Elias? It was funny...Peter T cracks me up! Kind of neat seeing them fish some of my favorite holes on Barkley Lake!
Also, how about Angler on Tour? Anyone see the interview with Bill Lowan? I really enjoyed that. That's one of those stories everyone needs to hear.
Yes finally got the Outdoor Channel, so now I can watch all kinds of great shows. I liked the Ultimate Match fishing show and the interview with Bill Lowen. I hope he does well in the Classic.
As far as the College fishing goes, how does this work? Enroll at the University of your choice and then sign up to be one of the fishermen on the team. Or are each fishermen recruited like the B-Ball players and other such players on teams that go to colleges. Just wondering... Do the Colleges have rules about Pro's enrolling into their School so that they can fish with a certain College....Just wanting to know if the Colleges are on the up & up as far as trying to recruit Professional Fishermen for their teams... Where are the rules located for these College Fishermen and how do they determine who can fish for each College....
Requirements are that you must be a full-time enrolled college student. You also have to be under the age of 26. There are no rules addressing pros, however most pros I know are older than 26! You must meet the minimum GPA requirements and be a member of the bass club at your University. If your University does not have an official club, you may create one. Team determination for national events such as Smash-Mouth or Fox is done through official club tournaments in which points are earned based on performance.
Well most clubs are university sanctioned student organizations. Usually we find the potential members on campus or through connections but unfortunatley at this time our recruiting budget is a little low at UK. The dang boosters want to keep giving tubby all their money. I keep telling them, hell, at least we have won some tournaments this year, thats more than tubby has done!
Under age 26...that is blatent age discrimination.
yea ESPN just got in a big stink about it. For your club to discrimate someone from age alone, it is discrimination. That is the single fastest way to lose your sanction with the university. This is why we do not have any age limits in our club at UK. However, all these different organizations, i.e. ESPN, ABA, Fox, are not NCAA sanctioned so they can set their own rules however they please. I dont think they set the age limits to discriminate but rather to keep guys with years more experience, out of the competitions.
Believe me, I agree....
You can be a member of the club, but you might not be able to fish in Fox, Smash-Mouth, ABA, CBAA, or any other organization that comes along with age restrictions.

AMEN!!!
