thanks for all the info/help!!!I don't normal let my dad or uncle keep black bass, but since I received so many responses (w/75 views), I'll let you guys know how many freezer bags we bring home.
Fish ON...
I'm bringing my dad and uncle down to LBL on Wednesday for a couple of days of fishing. Just wondering which lake is producing better right now, as I'd like to get them on some nice fish. We live in Eastern KY up near Va state line (about 7 hrs drive). We've been coming down for a few (3-4) years and usually make it down once or twice (if lucky) a year. Usually stay in Kuttawa area, but I haven't made reservations yet, so we'll change locations if the bite is better in another area. Any help will be greatly appreciated...
Thanks in advance and I'll post a report when we get back. If you'd rather, you can email information to pklittle@hotmail.com
Thanks,
pkfish

Wow. Care for some cheese with that whine? Consider the possibility that none of the 75 people had any good advice for you.
And we're supposed to feel bad for the bass you now say you're going to take home? Too funny.
Take it easy guy, it's a good chance not many hitting the lakes right now or don't have any good advice to share. I assume you are joking about cutting all the bass you catch. Check out Dave Stewart's report or give him a call he seems to go out of his way to help people out on his home lakes. And as far as I know there is nobody better to give advice about Kentucky or Barkely lakes. Be nice and be patient, you'll get some input, tightlines, Mark. ;)
I don't think I can give you any better advice than Dave Stewart but to make this a little more pleasant for you I'll put in my 2 cents for you. Take it if you want it.
I've been down to Barkley the last three weekends and it's been slow. Maybe it's me or the places that I fish but with the water as low as it is it's been slow. I can't speak about Ky because i haven't been over there. I fished a throw together tourney this past weekend and the winning weight was 2 fish that totaled 7.6, one 4.4 and one 3.2. All the fish caught came on cranks in 8-10 ft of water on main lake points, all this info, again, can be found on Dave Stewarts fishing report and he does a more concise job than I do. I hope this is what you needed, hopefully this has eased the tension of no replies. If not than I suggest you stay at home.
Hey Mark, you caught me (JOKING...so, chill out with the cheese and whine)...I know all about Dave. My wife and I fished with him this summer. We had an excellent trip - I learned alot about ledge fishing, and my wife enjoyed the week as well (big bonus)...I'm getting ready to shut the computer down in 30 minutes, and I placed a bet with one of my co-workers that my unanswered post would get several replies if I mentioned freezing some bass...Guess I won that bet. Thanks guys
Phillip
Dave, still not sure how many of my uncles are coming down. I'll give you a call and see if you still have anything open...
Fishing #### (for me) right now. Been 2 times in the last week and did not boat 1 stinking bass. I had a grand total of 2 bites the entire time I was on the water. My opinion as to the slow fishing is simply that there are so many shad in the backs of the bays on KY that the largemouth only have to feed for brief period before they're full. This is just a guess, though.
Actually if you re-read these posts I didn't say the cheese and whine comment even though it looked to apply at the time.
Just checked the site here for the first time in a couple of days. Sorry you did not get a lot of responses but it probably is because there has not been many folks on this board that have fished Ky/Barkley lately. In my opinion the better bite has been on Ky lately...my opinion. The bite has been sporadic...some very good days and some very tough days. Has to do with all these cold fronts we have been having for the past 4 weeks or so. Good luck on your trip.
You should realize that many of us, such as myself, read your post, but we don't know. I haven't fished down there since, oh I don't know, late May... you want to know what was going on then???
Good luck to you and your dad.
Tight lines and God Bless

I hope you get it. People did not answer because you are going to harvest bass, people answered because of your adolescent attitude with which you posted.

Everyone here probably knows I don't know much about either lake...at any rate, I live in the Louisville, Ky area...if I were to make a trip from Louisville to Kentucky/Barkley, which area of the lake would be my best bet to hit in regards to which creek, a decent ramp to put in at, a place to stay, etc? I'm not referring to the fall bite but more looking ahead towards spring of 2007.
