    ky lake crappie?

Has anyone heard about night fishing for crappie at ky lake in April? I'm going down with family from Ohio and thats what they swear by, limiting out every night with some pretty good ones. I have never heard of this but haven't crappie fished since 1985. I don't know if they are crazy or not but thats fine with me, I'm going to bass fish during day and sleep/crappie fish at night if that is the plan. Just wondering if anyone has tried this.

Good luck on getting any sleep for if it is a NORMAL spring then April is on from daylight to dark for Bass. Anyone that can leave the water when they have been slaying them all day long before dark has more discipline than me. I have even put in at 3 and 4 in the morning and caught Greens, Browns and even an 18lb Striper on Buzzbait, Spooks and Pop'rs on Barkley. This is defineately my kind of night fishing.

U can try it??? U may catch more slabs than ever but from my understanding and experience the crappie bite as well as LM bite is not nocturnal in the spring, or anytime of the year that i have found. But if your friends/family are tearing them up, why not??? Sounds like fun.

Never fished at night for crappie, but 2 years ago in early April we couldn't find a female bass during the day. They were moving up into the backs of creeks at night. We caught four over 5 pounds in one creek on spinnerbaits. The day time temp that week was in the low 40's too. It was crazy. I would try the night fishing.

Yes, you can catch a bunch at night in April. I plan on doing it more than I actually do in April since the fishing is usually good during the day as well and despite good fishing I require a little sleep every now and then and can't go day and night. While I catch them at night casting jigs I've done MUCH better fishing brush and docks w/ minnows under lighted bobbers. I catch them off the same brushpiles as during the day and the action can be really good. So YES you can whack them at night. I'm not sure that they really bite that much better, but you have no competition and you can fish visible stakebeds and do pretty well if you don't know where the submerged piles are at.
