    Important Please Read

Well Gentlemen, Just got back from the Urologist I have my PSA done annually (PSA Test is a simple blood test done at the Dr. office to check for Prostate Cancer) well lets say when it was done last time it had jumped so then Doc did the rubber glove thing and yep somethings not right. Well today was not the best of days for me. The reason for this post is I have not met anyone to my knowledge who frequents this site face to face but feel like I have. Whenever I have a question I put it on here and always get a good response. Hell even though I voted for Obama they didn't ban me from the site "yet".

The real reason I post this information is not one for self pity but to PLEASE ask every man over say 40 to have a PSA test done. It is not fool proof but it in conjunction with other information CAN and will save your life. I still want to catch a ton of fish and am looking forward to just that thing and Good Lord willing will. Beside, this OFF Topic board needs a short fat Liberal to balance out all posts by you Republican rednecks Merry Christmas to all

Good luck Joe detected early it sounds like and that's good. The prostate being caught early is almost always a 100% cure rate with a normal lifestyle after with some time. Godspeed to you and your's I'm sure everything is gonna be alright.

Hang tough Joe. I just went thru a scare with my prostrate also, the PSA showed high levels, but is was just an infection, this time.Seems the older we get the more things tear up that I did not know I even had. First the eyes, the plumbing, the hearing, I still got all my hair, then the "you Know" goes, but thank god for Viagria.. Joe I voted for Obama also and they still keep me here. This is a good bunch of guys and we all have a lot in common. You will be fine. Just keep it in check, the finger bothers me though. lol lol lol

Joe, it sounds like you have caught it early enough, and after reading this I am finally going to get this test done. I won't lie, I am 41 and have just been avoiding it and now I realize how important it is. Prayers with you and thanks for waking me up.

    Joe,

I also went through what you have experienced. All my tests came back positive for cancer. I went and met with my doctor, discussed all my options. I was 55 at the time, and I decided to have it removed. Took about 4-5 weeks for recovery, and I am happy to say that the cancer was all still in the prostate. The really great thing is after about 6 months, everything is working like it should. I have annuals, but all is still good after 4 years. Weigh all your options and research on the net for information, be prepared to ask
    lots of questions. Good luck..

    Joe,

Sorry for the bad news you gave us....I have another friend who just had his removed as well and so far so good....Funny thing he experienced while in the recovery room after the surgery.....His old soldier came to attention and he gave out a big Woooooot Hoooooooooot and hugged his wife......Said he wasn't even trying to do it either, just saw his wife and it just happened..... She had a big smile on her face is all he said she had to say....

Joe, take care and let us all know how everything goes...I'll keep you and yours in my family's prayer's.....

    God Speed my friend....

I was alwaysn doing tyhe anual PSA test, and itb al;ways showed normal. But what I avoided was the colon screen. Well, shouild have had it done years earlier. After a TURP, and then another one in 10 days found out my bladder was not operating as well as it should. No cure! But its something that I need to live with.At least I dont need to wear a bag or diaper, but eventualy, an infection will occur, found out I was allergic to sulfa drugs which work well for my condition.I'm 72, so I have had a lot of good years.Watch your health guys.
