Cain camp plays the race card

If you run a big company for any length of time, as Herman Cain did, it's no surprise to have accusations of sexual harassment made, and I don't think the fact that they were made proves anything by itself, even if there was a financial settlement. So I've thought all along that it wasn't the accusations themselves, but Cain's response to them, that made a difference, and his response has not been good. He basically lied when he was first asked about it, and that was a huge mistake, IMO. And now this PAC that supports him is pulling out the race card on it. True, it's not him himself saying it, but if he doesn't say anything to distance himself from the comments then everybody knows that's going to be interpreted as an endorsement of them calling it a "high-tech lynching." This is a huge mistake, if you ask me, one that's going to cost him supporters, particularly women. He wants this thing to just go away, but that's just not going to happen until he addresses this issue. But then again, if you look at my comments about him from when he first hit the scene, I'm obviously no expert on the matter

Man I don't see it that way. The left played the race card waaaaay before this popped up. I watched Cornel West and others accuse him of being racist and not embracing the black culture. Many Black celebrities said the same and at this point I can't remember them but I think Samuel Jackson was one of them.
Other liberal talking heads are accusing the white GOP members of liking Cain because he is black, educated, well spoken and successful. Uhhhh isn't that what they said about obama?. They also said it helps ease the guilt of the GOP members who didn't like Obama and his being black.
If he is guilty of anything from his past then let's get it out in the open and get it past us. The left talking heads cannot stand a black candidate unless he is a liberal because as a liberal/democrat he can preach to the poor black discriminated city folk who need welfare, food stamps, healthcare, dental, daycare and what ever else they can say to rally the troops.
Of course he isn't preaching that and that goes against all the BLACK GARBAGE talk that this country loves to toss on us all. He should be embraced by the black community not ridiculed like he is by his own race. It's disgusting how the left said GOP folks are racial because they cannot support Obama when all along it's his political beliefs not his race. Now that a black man who is a GOP member gets support because of his political beliefs we are all racist because he is black? My goodness how do these people live with themselves?

Just look at what Cain has said about race/racism in the past month or so and now there are racism claims coming from his camp.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on the sexual harassment stuff because there really isn't enough info to know what happened but I think the way he handled the whole thing has made the story a lot bigger than it was.

Now with that said it is a fact that there was two sexual harassment suits filed and settlements made in each case. Lots of ways to interpret why a settlement was made and I still belive we'll never really know why they were made.

I'm no expert either on the matter...But if sexual harassment was made against you and you believe you are not guilty...Why make a settlement and pay the claims....

Re: Cain camp plays the race card

WILL someone please post something......ANYTHING where Cain says what is happening to him is because he is is black??

    I mean really??

I think nearly all the stuff I've READ linked to this article is OTHER people saying he's a racist......or using the race card. I have not heard one thing in a news clip or anything else where CAIN says this is racism.

An Coulter is probably right. Our black are "better" than their blacks. In her example which is HARSH, I believe most of it.

    * Our blacks believe is pulling yourself up and making a better life for yourself.

    * Their black believe is voting for DEMOCRATS just because they are democrats and getting what is yours.

If that is racist, so be it.

    * If you're white, black, tan, red, green, yellow......whatever........if you don't WANT to use the opportunities you have to BETTER yourself, I have no use for you. NONE.

    * If you want to **** off the teat of gubment, I have NO use for you......NONE........

The article isnt even accurate. I wish that a professional like Merlene would check her facts before spouting off. My "guess" is she is a lefty with her own agenda. Obama has on many occasions made reference to him being black while either runing for office or in office. He talked on "The View" of his dancing ability compared to "white brother" Bill Clinton. He has had a Mic in his hands talking about how he doesnt look like the men on the american currency. Oprah and all the other black Dems have used race as a Mantra for voting for B.O. There are other examples and of course his associations with J. Wright. But Merlene worded it just right so she can say B.O. never claimed anything because of race. Hmmmm well maybe he has an Army of Media to attack anyone who even hints they don't like him....and yes they play the race card for him. It's the same in my book.

Her statement that race isnt a tool or card game to be used to deflect attention is also a JOKE in the highest order!!! The Liberal camp has been doing just that since B.O. was the dems pick for potus. Really? Nancy P., Joe Biden, Harry Reid and on and on and on...I guess you can spew garbage if you want when you work for the media....at least folks on here have an excuse.....we don't write for a newspaper or other media.

This womans comments just enforces my belief that the media leans waaaay left.

It's very timely for the left that once Cain becomes a front runner this stuff comes out. When he was just another GOP candidate nothing comes out but now he is being attacked. Very fishy if you ask me....

I agree to give him the benefit of doubt since all this stuff is talk so far with nothing concrete. I just have a major problem with how this stuff gets put out there by the media and it looks like a witch hunt to me.

I specifically said it wasn't Cain himself saying it, but surely you're not trying to tell me that calling these accusations a "high-tech lynching" doesn't amount to playing the race card?

    I mean really?

You and I know he hasn't said so himself, but my point is that in the court of public perception, which is all that matters, he's going to come off as having said so, unless he specifically denounces those statements. He may be appalled at the "high-tech lynching" statement, and the comparison to Clarence Thomas, but IMHO he needs to say so.

And DJD, you may be right, but it doesn't matter that the left did it first. All that matters is that Cain is going to be PERCEIVED as doing it now.

True but what I find ironic is that all the talk about racism when B.O. was running and while in office was fine for the left talking heads on tv and radio because it unfairly demonized the GOP and Conservatives. Now that a Conservative Black man has tossed his hat in the ring things are a little different.

If Cain survives this we are in for some fireworks as the political season moves forward.

That's why doctors, lawyers, and other professionals carry malpractice insurance. It's to protect their innocence; not pay for their guilt. My husband can afford to pay the $5k per year for insurance rather than pay $100k to defend himself against a lie.
