LAKE SEMINOLE IS DOWN .6 FEET, STAINED, 88 DEGREES BY MATT BATY 229 726 0153 Bass fishing is good and there is a pretty good top water bite going on early in the morning. Fish any topped out grass beds that are visible on the main lake. Throw a Big Bite Baits 3.5 Top Toad in June bug with chartreuse Swirl. Swim the frog over the grass mats and in the holes.. If you miss a strike, have a back-up rod with a Big Bite Baits 6 Jerk Minnow in shad color. This is an awesome 1-2 punch for early morning bass on Seminole right now. Once the sun gets up, then head to deeper grass lines on the main lake or Spring Creek. Fish a Texas rigged Big Bite Baits 6 Kriet Tail worm in Tilapia color and use a ¼ or 5/16 Tungsten sinker and fluorocarbon line. This pattern works for quality and quantity. The best rod I've seen for this technique is a Dobyns Champion Extreme 744c. Be sure to go to www.dobynsrods.com to check it out.

LAKE SINCLAIR IS DOWN 1.2 FEET, 85 DEGREES AND STAINED Bass fishing is fair. At daylight use the Lunker Lure in all white and Rat L Traps right up on the banks. During the day, work the lower lake creeks and ledges are fair and use a Zoom watermelon seed lizard or worm either on a Texas or Carolina rig. The bass are on the main lake points down lake. But the key is to stay half a cast off the points and cast at least a ¾ ounce sinker to get the distance and the depth. A chrome 1/2 ounce Rat L Trap on points can draw bass from great distances. Shad Raps in the #7 shad/black back on 10 pound test line are good. Trick worms on and under the docks in Little River and down lake to around the dam are working when the sun is high. Get some Fireline Crystal 10 pound test and put it on a spinning reel and this is an easy line to skip with because it has no memory. Crappie have gone to the deeper lower lake docks and bridges so get the lights and the minnows and fish these areas. |

Lake Oconee, Georgia's first experience with a slot size limit for largemouth bass
Report Updated
June 26, 2009
LAKE OCONEE IS FULL, 85 DEGREES Currently Lake Oconee is at full pool with a water temperature of 84 to 90 degrees. Most of the lake is clear but there is still a little muddy water in some areas. Bass fishing is good. The top water bite has slowed a little but still good. You may or may not find some mayflies but still use top water the first part of the day or just before dusk. Use the O’Nellie double blade buzz bait in white/chart has been a very good bait to use. Down the lake look for any grass you find in the water and work these areas real well with your top water bait. Use this buzz bait in the grass and work along the outside. Once this action slows, work a zoom watermelon fineness worm on a small jig head around the docks. Make sure to work all areas of the dock to see where the fish are holding. Try adding a few drops of the JJ’s Magic Juice to your worm as this will also help to increase your catch ratio. There are a lot of fish on deep water points and under water islands. Start looking for fish to be on the long points and under water islands around the lake. Also, deep water docks or docks that are very near deep water are great places to concentrate. On the points a crank bait or a Carolina-rig would be a good method to use. On the deep water dock flipping a large worm has been work well.
Crappie fishing at night with lights off the side of the boat is a great way to catch a number of fish and beat the heat. Setting up under a bridge or in the timbers is the place to be. When fishing for crappie during the day look for brush piles in 10 to 15 foot of water, and fish with live bait over the top of the pile. Also look for fish on the sharp drop offs. When you find fish in these areas work that area really good as you most likely have found a school of fish. There are also a good number of fish moving in and around the deep water docks. Shooting a Jiffy Jig under these docks can bring you some good size fish. Be sure when out on the water during these hot summer days drink plenty of fluids and use your sunscreen. Safety is number one! Take a look at this new lodge at Lake Oconee on the internet. Tell Amanda Finney at The Lodge you saw this on the fishing reports. www.thelodgeonlakeoconee.com.

JACKSON LAKE IS DOWN 1.3 FOOT, CLEAR, AND 87 DEGREES
Bass fishing is fair on Jackson Lake. Water temps are up pretty good and many fish are settling into deeper off shore structure. However, there have been quality LM and spots that have not make a permanent dash to deep water. Mayfly hatch areas and possibly bedding bream have served to hold quality fish shallow. Mayfly hatches seem to have abruptly disappeared, but bream and quality bass have remained shallow in those hatch areas through the past week. If you know some of those areas, don't count them out just because the hatches have slowed or stopped. For Mayfly fishing, look for trees hanging over the lake along with ducks and other birds looking for easy Mayfly snacks. Try fish head spins, Net Boy Jigs, and Pop R's in the Mayflies. The main lake lay downs can hold good fish, but docks can be the preferable form of wood when skies are clear and the sun is high. A swimming jig presentation can be particularly effective when fished over lay downs and in the mayfly hatch areas. Green Craw Net Boy jigs and shakey heads are taking fish on deep brush, docks, and out to deeper water on the points, humps, bluffs, and channel swings. Convert to a 1/2 or 3/4 football jig off shore. Many bait’s can be fished successfully depending on time of day and conditions from buzz baits and Rico's, to crank baits, swim baits and fish head spins. Choose natural colored crank baits that suit the depth you are targeting. You can catch fish in a variety of depth ranges right now so you might throw a #5 Shad Rap in one area and a DD22 in others. Crank baits along with Fish Head Spins and other fast baits, are good tools for covering all terrain between shallow cover and fan casting out on off shore structure.

LAKE RUSSELL IS 84 DEGREES AND MOSTLY CLEAR BY TIM WHITE - RAPALA PRO STAFF Bass fishing remains steady as hot and humid days continue. The Summer pattern remains in effect as the Bass seek cooler water and shady banks. If you watch your fish finders, you will see small schools of Bass in deeper water either suspended or holding to the tops of brush piles. You will also notice more fish around the bridge pylons as you pass under at idle speed. You can use a variety of baits including three inch Wildeye Swim Shads and fish head spins to catch these fish. On the deeper points and ledges, Carolina Rigs, Jigs and a slow moving deep water crank bait like the DT10's, DT14's and DT16's will all work. The night tournaments are showing up with some pretty impressive weights. The full moon occurs on July 7th and the night time anglers should continue to have good luck. A few reports of Bass being caught on top water baits are still coming in. A terminator Buzz Bait or Storm Chug Bug are both working late in the afternoons and just at daybreak. Drink plenty of clear liquids, even if you are night fishing and don't forget to add that Catch and Release formula to your live wells. Meet Tim White at Academy Sports in Athens, Georgia this Saturday, June 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

CLARKS HILL IS DOWN 4.2 FEET, 83 DEGREES AND CLEAR Bass fishing is still pretty good as the surface temperatures warmed up really quick. The summer time pattern is in full swing now, according to Tom Hall of N. Augusta. Most tournaments are averaging a 10 to 12 pound sack of Bass to win, but even a larger sack and some big fish show up at least once a week. Some Bass are hiding in the shallow cover on the wind blown flats and points out on the river channel, according to Tom. Later on, the bite seems better out on the submerged river humps. DT3s, DT4s, X-Raps, Carolina Rigs and Jigs are working right now. A four to six foot depth at the crown of the humps is usually a good place to fish. Don't forget, Tim White will be at Academy Sports in Athens, Georgia the 27th of June. There will be lots of fun for all, so plan on stopping by. Line sides are roaming around in 20 to 30 feet of water near the humps. Use a Wildeye Pro Paddle Tail or Curl Tail in the 4 1/2 inch size on a 4 to 5 inch Wildeye Swim Shad by Storm to get down and catch these fish. Use your electronics and try downsizing your line to 10 - 12 pound test or smaller, while using these baits. Thanks, Tom, for those reports. Tom won his club Tournament with a 9.5 pound sack and fishes with the Rapala baits mentioned above. The new book, BASS FISHING CLARKS HILL LAKE, by Tim White is on sale now. LAKE WEISS IS AT .39 FEET BELOW FULL POOL STAINED AND 85 DEGREES Now available for sale 50 of my proven GPS waypoints for off shore structure for Bass and Crappie fishing on Weiss Lake, Alabama. Contact Ken Sturdivant at ken@havefunfishing.com Bass fishing is great and a lot of fish have moved deep back to the creek and river channel ledges in 6 to 10 feet of water. These fish are being caught on crank baits, spinner baits, jigs and Carolina rigged plastics. Some Bass are still on the banks in 3-6 feet of water, flipping docks with jigs and tube baits is producing some good fish. Casting shallow running crank baits down deeper banks near the spawning area's is catching fish also.
Striper fishing is good and they have started showing up in the main lake from Cedar Bluff to Leesburg, and at the Cave Hole in some good numbers. Fish the deeper points and river channel ledges in 12 to 20 feet of water, use live shad on a down lines 8 to 10 feet deep, always put out a flat line to catch the shallower fish as you slow troll the points and ledges. The lower Chattooga River and Little Spring Creek are also producing some quality fish. Crappie fishing is poor and the fish have moved back to the river and creek channels in 12 to 18 feet of water on the drop offs. Spider rigging with minnows and Jiffy Jigs is the ways to catch the post spawn fish. Shooting docks with a 1/24th ounce Jiffy Jig is also producing a few fish. LAKE EUFAULA IS FULL AND 86 DEGREES & CLEAR
Bass fishing is good. You can catch fish anyway that you want to right now. It has been taking a 25 pound bag to win most tournaments, with most tournament being won with a combination of both shallow and deep fish. The best shallow bite has been early but it does last all day. After the sun gets up, the best bite is on the first break on the ledges. The shallow fish are biting a Big Bite Baits top toad in white or green pumpkin pearl around lily pad fields that are close to deep water. After the sun comes up punch a Big Bite Baits fighting frog in black blue or green pumpkin into thick grass mats before heading to the river ledges. The ledge fish are bunched up right now in schools around any irregularities on the ledge. The ledge bite is extremely better when the corps is moving water. Fish a #7 Fat Free Shad in Citrus Shad or Foxy on 10 lb. GAMMA Fluorocarbon on the inside bend of the ledges when they start pulling water. When the water is not, moving fish a Big Bite Baits Kriet Tail worm or a Picasso football jig in black blue on these ledges with 17 pound test Gamma Copolymer fishing line. Try ripping the worm and jig off the ledge to create a reaction strike when the water is not moving. There are also some fish falling for a casting spoon on the steeper ledges. Fish on the south end are in the brush in the 10 to 15 foot range. These fish are biting the same baits as well as a Ledgebuster spinnerbait ripped through the brush piles around Pataulla and Thomas Mill Creeks. See www.gammafishing.com for the line.
