LAKE SEMINOLE IS DOWN .5 FEET, 86 DEGREES, MAIN LAKE IS STAINED, CREEKS ARE CLEAR BY MATT BATY
Bass fishing has gotten somewhat tough over the past couple of weeks. There is still a good early morning top water bite if you are in the right spot. Grass beds that are near the river channel on the main lake have seemed to be producing a little better. For top water, use a Spro Dawg 100 in Old Glory. For best results use braided line and a good long rod such as a 7'6" Falcon Lowrider to get the bass out of the grass. We change the hooks over sized #2 Gamakatsu EWG Treble hooks. These hooks seem to be a little more weedless than the round bend hooks. When the top water bite is over, fish the same areas with a Texas rig. Use a Big Bite Baits 6" Kreit Tail Worm in Watermelon or Tilapia on a 1/4 ounce Tungsten weight, 4/0 Gamakatsu off-set hook, and 20 lb. Sunline Fluorocarbon. The Sunline fluorocarbon is extremely sensitive and has high knot strength. Big Bite Baits is in the process of developing some new baits. One particular bait is called the Sugar Cane worm and should be awesome for Seminole because it is similar to a paddle tail. Make sure you go to www.bigbitebaits.com to see the Sugar Cane Worm and other new baits.

LAKE SINCLAIR IS DOWN 2 FEET, 87 DEGREES AND STAINED BY ROGER MCKEE, 706 342 8555
Largemouth bass fishing continues to be a challenge. One day you will have moderate success and the next day will be as tough as it gets. Top water fishing can produce a few good fish each morning by focusing on the deeper grass beds north of Crooked Creek. Cast a Heddon Pop' N Image in citrus shad and work it very slowly or try the 1/8 ounce white buzz bait with a white Zoom fluke as a trailer, moving it just fast enough to keep it on top. Fishing the shaded banks can extend the top water bite by as much as two hours. A Yamamoto 5 inch Kut tail worm fished on a 3/16 ounce shakey head jig in brush piles ranging from 10 to 20 feet around docks will catch some fish most days and the occasional big fish. Use your Lowrance to locate the docks with deep brush out in front and spend some time on the brush that has bait. Anytime you notice current, move out to a main lake point or ledge and find the shad with your Lowrance, then depending on depth, cast a deep diving crank bait or a Carolina rig. The current disorients the shad, making them much easier for the bass to feed on. Good crank bait choices are Rapala's DT series or Bomber's Fat Free Shad line of crankbaits. For the business end of your Carolina rig, try a Zoom fish doctor or other worm in the 4 to 5 inch range. New web site www.gafishing.org.

Lake Oconee, Georgia's first experience with a slot size limit for largemouth bass
Report Updated
July 23, 2010
LAKE OCONEE IS FULL POOL, 89 DEGREES AND CLEAR
This Lake Oconee bass report from Roger McKee
Bass fishing is slow and the continued heat wave the bass bite. Try to get on the water a couple of hours before daylight and fish the lighted docks in Richland Creek using a Bandit 200 or Cotton Cordell CC shad. If that's a little slow, fish a black ribbon tale worm on the corner posts and under the lights. Usually you will have your limit of largemouth and a few stripers before the dawn breaks. The deeper seawalls in Richland Creek are holding a few fish. Your best approach will be to fish a 1/4 ounce white buzz bait or devils horse while paralleling the seawall. Work both baits slowly while keeping an eye out for bait fish. After 10 a.m. move out to the main lake points and alternate between a 1/2 ounce Jewell football jig and a Carolina rig and fish out to 25 feet. Most strikes will occur in fifteen to twenty feet of water and will be very light. Most times you will just feel additional weight. Keeping your finger on the line at all times will catch you a few additional fish. Deep cranking the shoal markers at the mouth of Richland Creek and Double Branches will get a few bites. Use your Lowrance to locate the pods of bait around the rock shoals and back off and make repeated casts to an area before leaving. Most of these fish are in thirteen to eighteen feet of water. Some good crank bait choices would be #7 Fat Free Shads, Norman DD22 and Spro's Little John DD20.
Lake Oconee Line Side report brought to you by Mark Smith at Reel Time Guide Service. 404-803-0741. wwwreeltimeguideservice.com
Line Side fishing is good. A few fish are coming on live bait. Bream are working better than shad. Make sure you catch your bream with a hook and not a net. The 4 arm Capt. Mack umbrella rig is still the way to catch number of good fish. Look from the mouth of Richland creek to the dam. The fish are in 15 to 30 feet of water. Run your rigs 130 feet behind the boat at 3 miles per hour. Look for power reeling to take off any day.

JACKSON LAKE IS DOWN 2.6 FEET, CLEAR, 90 DEGREES BY ED CAVENDER.
Bass fishing is fair and most of the days fishing should be concentrated on deep structure, deeper docks and blow downs. Early morning fishing is good throwing a buzz baits or torpedo style prop baits. Deep running cranks baits and Carolina rigged plastics can do well during the day. Before the sun gets up, stick to power fishing with buzz baits. Covering water can be the key to success. Larger top baits lake the Sammy or prop baits fished a little slower near wood or rock structure will work. Fish these main lake areas with some depth at or near the banks. When the sun gets up, spots and largemouth can be taken deeper on rocky points blow down, boulders and humps. Mid day bass will be holding from 12 to 25 feet deep, depending on the sunlight or overcast conditions. Finding a crank bait bite can be fairly easy out on the deep structure like points and humps and a natural color is a good choice. Pull up to the points and try your crank bait. Fishing deep wood is a fairly consistent pattern with a jig and pig and Shaky trick worm. Do not overlook the floating docks in deep water. New web site www.gafishing.org.

LAKE RUSSELL IS DOWN 3.4 FEET, 86 DEGREES AND CLEAR
Bass fishing is really slow and even small fish are hard to catch with the moon coming up. Spots are the majority of the bass being caught but some largemouth are still being caught. This week the top water bite is gone and most of the bass were found in deeper water holding close to stumps and other submerged structure. Use a Moccasin blue Zoom worm on a Carolina rig in the deep water. This pattern should hold for another week or two or as long as the heat and high water temperatures hold. Fishing the Carolina rig with a one ounce sinker is critical and work this bait slowly. Fish the main lake points that run out into the channel. It will be really important to check out the feeding tables before you go. See the Fish and Game Forecaster on tour site. Bass seem to have stop feeing during the off peak hours. As the new moon approaches, the daytime fishing should improve somewhat.

CLARKS HILL IS DOWN 2.4 FEET, 88 DEGREES AND STAINED
Bass fishing is fair and the bass are scattered up and down the lake. Use light 10 pound test line and cast the larger crank baits like the Rapala DT10 and the DT16. Fish the channel ledges up toward the northern end of the lake. Use the se two colors, black and silver and hot mustard. Also fish the edges of the grass mats with 8 inch green pumpkin worms and a 3/8 ounce Tru Tungsten sinker to penetrate the mats. Also fish the new Zoom Magnum trick worm with no weight or a small split shot and throw it right along the edge of the larger mats in the deeper water. Let the bait sink until it get out of sight then work the bait like a jerk bait. Best results are happening on the fall so be prepared. Up little river smaller bass are after the Texas rigged Zoom u tail worms in greens. The crank bait is better and get used to deep cranking for the rest of the month. Hit the rip rap early in the morning with the #5 and #7 Shad Raps in either the balsa wood or the RS models. Natural shad and fire tiger colors seem to be working the best. LAKE WEISS IS DOWN .67 FEET, STAINED AND 86 DEGREES BY MARK COLLINS GUIDE SERVICE
Now available for sale 50 of my proven GPS waypoints for off shore structure for Bass and Crappie fishing on Weiss Lake, Alabama. Contact Ken Sturdivant at ken@havefunfishing.com.
Bass fishing is good and they have moved to their summer pattern. Largemouth and spotted bass are being caught on off shore structure, like main lake humps and points, and a lot of bass are on the old river and creek channel ledges also. A Carolina rigged Senko worm in green pumpkin or June bug and chartreuse is working all day for these off shore fish. Crank baits and spinner baits and Carolina rigged plastics are all catching these fish. Some fish are being caught flipping deeper docks with a jig or tube. There is a good top water bite and the bass are being caught on sea walls close to deep water, early in the am and late in the afternoons. There is also a good night bite on lighted docks with a dark crank bait or a jig.
Striper fishing is good and they have left the main lake and have moved to the mouth of the rivers and creeks, the Cave Hole in Little River and in the lower Chattooga River and Little Spring Creek are all producing some good stripers. Live shad down lined 8 to 10 feet deep and free lined is the way to catch these summer stripers. The Chattooga River from Cornwall Furnace up past the Gaylesville Bridge is also producing some good fish.
Crappie fishing is fair and a few fish are being caught during daylight under docks on a 1/24 ounce Jiffy Jig. These fish will be on a night bite for the rest of the summer, so grab a can of OFF and your lights and come catch some summer time slabs. Some good fish are being caught under lights at night off the deeper docks on live minnows and jigs, also crappie are being caught at night under lights, in 8 to 14 feet of water on the old river channel ledges in Little River and the old Coosa River channel.

Report Updated
July 23, 2010
LAKE GEORGE/EUFAULA IS FULL, 89 DEGREES CLEAR DOWN & CLEAR
Bass fishing is fair at best. It is like hunting ghost, here one day gone the next. The only consistent bite has been a early and late top water bite along main lake grass beds. Fish have been holding around the points in these grass beds as well as any isolated clumps. They have been biting a variety of baits such as a Spro hydro pop and a black Picasso buzz bait. When the sun gets up the deeper ledge bite in the 20 to 25 foot range up lake has been the most consistent. The bait on the northern end of lake is finally starting to ball up pretty good, making the crank bait bite a little bit better. Look for any bait flicking on the surface and idle around the ledge to find where the baitfish and fish are located on the ledge. Try working these balls of bait with a Stanford lures Razor shad on the shallower ledges and a Mann's 20+ on the deeper ledges. The ledges that have standing timber or rocks have been more consistent than just the bare ledges. The key is to throw your crank bait as far up on the ledge as you can and let it make as much contact with as much timber or rocks as you can before you rip it off the ledge. Down south, fish the deepest brush piles that you can find. The best bite that have found on the southern end has been in any brush or rocks in the 30 to 35 foot range. Fish a Big Bite Baits Kriet Tail worm in Green pumpkin with a one ounce Tru-Tungsten weight. Just fish this bait really slow and when you hit any brush dead stick the bait. There has also been some sparse schooling action throughout the day, so always have a Spro Dawg 100 or a pearl Big Bite Baits jerk minnow tied on. With the rains coming this week look for the shallow bite to turn on. Try fishing back in the grass with a Spro Bonzeye frog in natural red or a Big Bite Baits top toad in green pumpkin along the thick grass edges.
