Rough River Fishing Report updated April 6, 2013

Lake and River Level Update April 6 at 6:10 AM:

Lake level was 490.16 ft and still rising slowly
Discharge was 57 cfs
Rough River at Dundee was 5.80 ft

Weather conditions are clear and sunny
Lake water temp is running in between 47-50 degrees
Water color is stained on main lake and clear in thecreeks.

Crappie are fair-good and being taken near channels of the creeks with
Some being caught near brush piles and standing timber in
6-8 ft of water while using minnows and also jigs tipped with wax
worms being
effective as well.Rosy Red minnow’s have been the preferred.

Bass are fair and being taken on jigs and worms fished near
structure in 6-12 ft of water ,while crank baits in citrus and mustard
colors fished around 8-10ft of water on primary and secondary points
are producing a few numbers as well.

Hybrids are slow and being taken on r shiners and night crawlers with
a few reports of inline spinners are picking up a few.

Bluegill are still slow and being taken in 4-6 ft of water around
timber and brush piles with redworms and waxworms and small spinners.

Catfish are slow to fair! and being taken on ledges with Shiners ,
Bluegill, and Goldfish.

Rough River Lake
Lake and River Level Update 10:10 am 30 January:

Precipitation in last 24 hours: 1.08 inches
Lake Level was 476.59 ft and rising
Discharge is 775 cfs
Rough River at Dundee was 19.53 ft





Water temperature is hovering around 44 degrees Water Clarity is
Muddy



Bass are slow and being taken on jigs and worms fished near
structure in 6-12 ft of water ,while crank baits fished around
12-18ft of water
on primary and secondary points are producing a few numbers as
well.

Crappie are fair-good and being taken off brush piles and
standing
timber in 8-10 ft of water while using minnows with tubes being
effective as well.

Hybrids are slow and being taken on r shiners and chicken livers .

Bluegill are still slow and being taken in 4-6 ft of water around
timber and brush piles
with redworms and waxworms and small spinners.

Catfish are slow to fair! and being taken on flats with Shiners ,
Bluegill, and Goldfish.

Sorry for the delay in reports due to the deer season rush .


I’m Bill Boyer and here‘s this week’s Rough River Lake Fishing report.
Water temperature is hovering around 60degrees with the water level
coming in at 491.90. Water Clarity is Clear.
Bass are fair to good and being taken on jigs and worms fished near
structure in 6-8 ft of water ,while crank baits and spinnerbaits
fished around 10-12ft of water on primary and secondary points are
producing numbers as well.
Top water action is fair with buzzbaits and surface plugs
Crappie are fair to good and being taken off brush piles and standing
timber in 8-10 ft of water while using minnows with tubes being
effective as well.
Hybrids are fair and being taken on rattle traps and also shiners
and chicken livers
Bluegill are still fair! and being taken in 2-4 ft of water around
timber and brush piles with redworms and waxworms and small spinners.
Catfish are slow to fair! and being taken on flats with Shiners ,
Bluegill, and Goldfish.

I’m Bill Boyer and here‘s this week’s Rough River Lake Fishing report.

Water temperature is around 86 degrees with the water level at 4 ft
below summer pool. Water Clarity is clear.
Bass are slow to fair and being taken on rock ledges and channels
with tube baits fished around 16-20 ft of water. While some are also
being taken on primary points with crankbaits and Carolina rigs. Also
reports of texas rigged worms fished in shallow cover early and late
in the day are producing fair numbers as well.
Crappie are still fair and being taken off brush piles and around
standing timber in 13-16 ft of water using minnows and also rosy red
minnows.

Hybrids are fair and have been taken with shad type baits and chicken
livers, while surface lures such as spooks in the mouths of creeks and
coves early and late in the day are producing a few as well. Live
wild shiners fished around the big island have been the best producer
in recent days.

Bluegill action is Good! and being taken in 2-4 ft of water around
timber and brush piles with crickets and red worms .

Catfish are good! and being taken on mud flats and ledges with Shiners
, Bluegill and Leech’s also cut bait such as Skipjack is producing as
well.

I’m Bill Boyer and here‘s this week’s Rough River Lake Fishing report.

Water temperature is hovering around 81degrees with the water level
coming in at 4 ft below summer pool. Water Clarity is stained in
the backs of creeks and running clear on the main lake.

Bass are fair and being taken on jigs and texas rigged worms fished
near structure in 6-8 ft of water ,while crank baits and spinnerbaits
fished around 10-12ft of water on primary and secondary points are
producing numbers as well.

Buzz bait and Fluke style lures are the preferred during earlier and
late hours.

With the recent rains and cooler temperatures Crappie are fair to good
and being taken off brush piles and standing timber in 8-10 ft of
water near channels while using minnows and rosy red minnow ‘s with
reports of smaller spinners are effective as well.

Hybrids are fair and being taken on spinners and shiners fished near
the big island and in the mouths of creeks in 8-12 ft of water
Bluegill are still Good! and being taken in 2-4 ft of water around
timber and brush piles with redworms and waxworms

Catfish are fair! and being taken on ledges with Shiners , Bluegill,
and Goldfish with nightcrawlers producing as well.

The tail waters have been producing a few trout being taken on nibbles
and corn.

Anglers are also reporting fair numbers of Hybrid and crappie there
taken on minnows and small spinners.
Bow fishing is good to very good with reports of carp and gar being
taken off mud flats in the creeks and coves.

I’m Bill Boyer and here‘s this week’s Rough River Lake Fishing report.

Water temperature is around 87 degrees with the water level at 4 ft
below summer pool. Water Clarity is clear.

Bass are slow and being taken ledges and channels with deep diving
crank baits fished around 16-20 ft of water. While some are also being
taken on primary points with lipless crankbaits and Carolina rigs..

Top water action is slow / fair during earlier and late hours using
Buzz baits, Spooks and Pop R’s .

Crappie are fair and being taken off brush piles and standing timber
in 13-16 ft of water near channels and mouths of creeks and coves,
minnows and tubes are the preferred.

Hybrids are fair and have been taken with spinners and spoons ,while
lures such as flukes and shad type lures fished off ledges early and
late in the day have been productive.
Bluegill action is Good! and being taken in 2-4 ft of water around
timber and rocky ledges with crickets and red worms .

Catfish are good! and being taken on ledges and rocky outcrops with
Bluegill and Goldfish

The tail waters have been producing fair numbers and Anglers are
reporting fair numbers of Hybrid and crappie there taken on minnows
and small spinners.

I’m Bill Boyer and here‘s this week’s Rough River Lake Fishing report.

Water temperature is around 86 degrees with the water level coming in
at  5 ft below
summer pool.  Water Clarity is clear

Largemouth Bass are fair and  being taken off primary and secondary
points on the
main lake and around the mouths of the creeks and coves on shakey head
worms, jigs
and Carolina rig’s. Some are also being taken in the backs of creeks
and coves on
buzzbaits and top water plugs early and late in the day.

Crappie are fair and being taken off brush piles in 18-20 ft of water
in creeks and also
cuts on the main lake,  minnows and minnow tipped jigs , Anglers
report tipped popeye
jigs fished around standing timber have been producing fair numbers as
well.

Hybrid bass are fair and being taken on channel edges on the main lake
with  
spoon’s,and grubs fished 16-20 ft. with reports some being caught in
the jumps in the
late hours on flukes and Pop R type plugs.

Bluegill are Good ! and being taken in 4-6 ft of water with wax worms
and  crickets as
well as redworms .

Catfish are Good! and being taken on,Shiners & Bluegill , while good
numbers are still
being taken off deep channels while using Israeli carp and
nightcrawlers .
