Cumberland River Fishing Report Updated May 28, 2013

May 28, 2013

I was out today trout fishing. We caught over 30 trout: rainbows, browns, and a couple
of brook trout. The Rainbows were running 8-14 inches. I was fishing with crank baits,
power bait, and spinners. The river is down, nice and green, clear. It is great trout
fishing time. The fishing has really been good the last 3-4 days. We were out yesterday
and caught a couple of nice stripers. We got an 18lb and 30lb. We got several more hits
as well. It seems that striper time is here as well.
Email or call to book your trip.

The Cumberland River is finally down to near normal levels for the summer. Gravel bars
are just under the water and fishable from a boat.
Stripers to 40 pounds are being caught on live and artificial baits.
Brown trout in the 10 pound class are also showing up on the usual spinner baits and
live baits, the same for Rainbow trout up to 7.5 pounds.
White bass are still showing up in the creeks with good numbers reported around
Marrow Bone Creek.

Report By Strange Bait and Tackle
on Main Street in Burkesville just before the bridge.

Striped Bass have moved up due to the long period of high water. Good fish are being
caught from Marrow Bone Creek down to the State Line. Johnny Rush reports they are
hitting live and artificial bait, and that on a recent trip he hooked 3 strippers: 15lb, 27lb,
and a 33lb.
Trout, White Bass, Walleye and Sauger still are being caught in good numbers. Brown
trout to 10 pounds and Rainbows to 7 pounds are being caught all the way to the
Tennessee Line.
