Report Updated June 7, 2008
Sunday June 7, 2008
The recent cloudy conditions
have sparked some saugeye activity near the duck pond, along the dam
and in the first few coves on the eastern side of the lake. Anglers
have been catching saugeye sporadically in the 12-20 inch range on
Cicadas, Heddon Sonars, large chub minnows and on Venom twisters.
Crappies are being caught
north of Maxtown road in 4-8 feet of water. Use minnows suspended
under a slip float or small Venom tube jigs in red and white. Fish
lures and bait tight to any available cover. Many crappie in the 12
inch range are available although most will run around 9 inches.
In the middle of the lake,
around the first bridge at Smothers road and near the sailboat club
white bass have been hitting on yellow Rooster tail spinners and
Little Devil jigs. For the greatest success try fishing in the early
morning and look for White bass feeding on baitfish. I’d like to
give a special Thank you to Courtney Holtzapfel at The Old Dutchman
Baitshop on Sunbury Road in Westerville, Ohio for supplying the
latest Hoover Report.
