LAKE ALLATOONA IS FULL, CLEAR & 78 DEGREES

Spotted bass fishing is good. The water is clear in most of the main lake and still a little muddy up the rivers. Largemouth a few in the 5 to 7 pound range, being caught even with the high water and pretty decent for numbers on spots. Most fish being caught are on a 3/16th ounce Camo Spot Stalker Jig head with a watermelon Yamamoto Cut Tail worm. They key is working the points and pockets in the bluff walls has been the primary pattern. During the day look for rocky banks or deep pockets and throw a 6 inch green pumpkin lizard on a Carolina rig Look for water falling off to at least 10 feet or simply the deepest water with available cover in the rivers. A Texas rigged finesse worm pegged with a 1/4 ounce bullet weight and a bead has been working also. The Spot Stalker bite is good because of the wedge head design so it can ease in and out of the cover without getting hung. It will weave in and out of the brush piles and rocks very effectively without hanging up and it will also skip well under docks for those fish seeking some cooler water. It also has a double barb keeper to prevent your plastics from falling down.

Line side fishing is fair. The bite is starting to pick up and seems to be getting better. The bite and locations are the same this week as they where last week, change nothing. The fish are starting to move north and can be caught from the Delta to Clear Creek. The flats on the north end of the lake seem to be holding more fish than the flats mid lake. But the fish we are catching in the mid section of the lake seem to be bigger. Down lining shad has been working best for us. The numbers are no where near what they were just four weeks ago. But if you are in the right place at the right time, boating 20 plus fish can be had in a very short time. Trolling is fair. The key to catching these fish is to bottom bump your umbrella rigs on flats with an 18 to 20 foot bottom. The top water bite is off and on. The better bite seems to be in the afternoon on the north end of the lake near Sweetwater. Use your Lowrance Structure Scan and Down Scan machines to find the fish faster.
