LAKE LANIER IS UP .38 FEET, THE MAIN LAKE AND CREEKS ARE CLEAR IN PARTS WITH TURNOVER EVIDENT IN OTHERS & 73 DEGREES

Bass fishing is good. The water temperature has dropped into the lower 70's and the lower lake is showing signs of turnover in some places. There are still fish on the brush but they are not concentrated there like they were a week ago. The bait and fish are starting to spread out more, and there is a definite increasing presence of bait and fish back further in the creeks. In the mornings, we are working a jig in 12 to 18 feet of water on rocky points and islands. When the wind is up in the AM, a Sworming Hornet Bite Sized Herring and a spinnerbait up shallower on rocky points and islands next to deep water has been good. Once the sun gets up good, we have still been running the brush with top water and swim baits. A Gun Fish, a Chug Bug along with the Bite and Snack sized Herring from Sworming Hornet Lures have been the best choices. I have the following dates remaining in October: 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30. Give me a call and reserve your October date today.

Striper fishing is fair. It is October and with October comes high pressure systems, wind and lake turnover which makes fishing spotty. The fish have scattered lake wide without any clear pattern. We have had some luck this week on top casting Spooks and Chug bugs to points and clay banks. We are seeing schooling fish surfacing at the dam but they will not stay up long. The key is keeping your eye on the water to locate these schooling fish. There are still a few suspended fish at 20 to 40 feet over a 50 to 120 foot bottom which can be caught with down line herring but, your best bet is points and humps with free lines and top water. Don't forget the umbrella rig. You can cover a lot of water and they can be very effective when by clipping points. We have had some reports of a few fish being caught in the rivers and on the north end of the lake but for now your best bet is from Flat Creek to the dam.
