WEST POINT LAKE IS FULL, STAINED & 74 DEGREES

Bass fishing is good. A Strike King Premier Spinnerbait with double willow blade combo has been catching a lot of the smaller fish. For the bigger fish, use a Bagley’s medium running crank bait and a 3/8 ounce jig in my color blues and blacks. Keep the Zoom Super Fluke ready for the areas with the highest concentration of bait. Add the Scrounger and put the smaller Zoom pearl Fluke as the add on. Add the Zoom Super Chunk, Netbaits Paca chunk and Strike Kings floating chunk as trailers. Use the black and blue, orange and watermelon seed. Concentrate on the mouth of the creeks and secondary points in the back. The pockets up the river are producing some good fish but it changes daily.

Hybrids and striper fishing is good. The water temperatures are changing and the fish have started to feed. Shad are the primary forage now and the Lowrance structure scan imaginimg will help anglers search the waters faster. Anglers must know where the bait is. Main Lake humps and road beds are perfect right now. Shad fishing in 15 to 20 feet is working best. Use a Fluorocarbon leader with 20 pound test Sufix Elite as the main line so you can get the fish away from the trees. You can still catch fish on Pop N corks and spoons.

Crappie fishing is good since the water started to cool. Creek channels and brush piles are the ticket right now. Start off with a white Jiffy Jig and if the bite gets tough go to a live minnow. Once you catch a fish don't leave that spot because there are a lot more there. Yellow Jacket Creek and Jackson Creek are best this week.
