Bass fishing is very good. There are many options from which to choose out there. You can catch fish from 2 to 50 feet deep and you can also catch them in a number of different places. There are still fish on the brush, and there are fish on rock, on points, and they are starting to show up in creek arm ditches as well. Throw any bait that you like right now and in most situations you will catch fish on it. Here is a list of some of the baits we have been using over the last week to catch good fish: crank bait, spinnerbait, Fish Head Spin, drop shot, Davis Shaky Head, Chattahoochee jig, top water, Sworming Hornet Bite Sized Herring and a jerk bait. In the mornings, we have been focusing on the rock pretty consistently. After that, we are letting the conditions lead us to the best bite, and it seems to be different every day. This is a great time to learn how to fish the turnover and transition periods on Lake Lanier and to remain successful. I have the following dates open next week: November 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Striper fishing is fair. The fishing remains hit or miss and there does not seem to be any definitive pattern. However, the top water has picked up with some fish surfacing mostly in the afternoon. If you spot fish on the surface they will eat a Spook or a Chug Bug. You can also "run and gun" points with top water baits a pick up a few fish. Pulling Herring and Trout on free lines while casting a 1/2 ounce buck tail jig to points will work but again it is hit or miss. Don't forget the umbrella rig. You can cover a lot of water and they can be very effective when by clipping points. The good news is the turnover will be over soon and with cooler water temperatures we can get back to catching stripers as they move into the creeks.
