Fishing has been outstanding for nice Gator Trout (spotted sea trout) great table fare and usually bite real good on all occasions, along with redfish, sheephead, small tarpon, poor man’s tarpon (ladyfish), flounder, blue fish, an occasional snook, and more. Using a combination of live and artificial baits depending on the tide’s wind and available live bait, whether we are fishing structure, oyster bars, docks, rock piles, and vast pot-hole laden inshore flats we’ve been producing with pilchard’s, select shrimp or pinfish. The fish seem to want something moving on an open inshore flat during this Indian summer we are experiencing, water temperatures now are 63* F to 68* F range. It’s been very good fishing in between the occasional cold fronts. Inshore flats fishing in Tarpon Springs, New Port Richey and Clearwater are full of exceptional wildlife, dolphins, manatees, bald eagles, osprey, and a great number of mother nature’s wonderful creatures.
