LAKE GEORGE IS FULL, 54 DEGREES
Bass fishing is slow but there are a lot of shad in the creeks and larger pockets. There are some large shad schools in the backs of the creeks but the clear water fish will bite better. Spots will take Bandit 200 shad crank baits. Fish the hydrilla with a Fluke or a Super Fluke with no weight. As soon as the water temperatures drop get out the spoons. Mid day after the water warms some, go up the river and flip a jig in the River Bend area or fish a jigging spoon in some of the deeper, clearer creeks down the lake. The cold fronts have pushed the fish back down to the 20+ depths were spoons will be your best route. The setup that works is a 1/2 ounce Hopkins Shorty and add a swivel snap to reduce line twist. Your Lowrance color graph is the most important items and use the on at the helm to find them and pinpoint a depth and a front one to stay on top of them. Warmer temperatures being cold got some fish pushed up out of the depths, but the bite seemed to be hit of miss as a lot of fish suspended up around 14 feet not wanting to hit much of anything. Slow rolling spinnerbaits can work. Cover a lot of water and the Cowikee Creek ledges can hold winter fish. Use the spoons and Carolina rigs. Up the river flipping the main river blow downs with black blue 3/8 ounce jigs is fair. The spots seem to be more inclined than the largemouth to bite.
