  • Several Bass Techniques are Working | West Point Lake

WEST POINT LAKE IS DOWN 3.3 FEET, CLEAR & 59 DEGREES Bass fishing is fair. Several patterns need to be worked for largemouth and spots. Use the Rapala DT crank baits on main lake points hitting numerous points and fishing a large area. The best depth is 12 to 15 feet. Vertical jigging 23 to 25 feet deep with a 1/2 ounce to 3/4 ounce Flex It spoon can work in any clear water. Fish the mouth of Yellow Jacket Creek for a mile upstream and hit Wehadkee Creek, Veasey Creek, and Stroud Creek as they have clear water. Try slow rolling a white and chartreuse half ounce spinner bait around rip rap at the bridges. Another good tip this time of year is to look for rock as it attracts the bait fish which attract bigger fish during the colder months. Small Scroungers with a small Fluke trailer in pearl can work and use a slow easy retrieve.
