CLARKS HILL IS FULL, 53 DEGREES & CLEAR
Bass fishing took a hard hit this past week with the freezing temperatures and high winds. With the cold temperatures, the fish backed off to deeper water and held tight. As the warming trend appears, expect the fish to become a little more active. Check the shallow water and the mouths of the small creeks and coves for any signs of a shad die off. The cold weather should have killed off some of the bait fish and they will be floating on top of the water. These are excellent areas to use a slow retrieve Husky Jerk. The #10 size is a great one to use and Glass Minnow would be my color of choice. Try to make the bait appear to be like a dying Shad. Small twitches and longer pauses will trigger a strike off any Bass in the area. The Down Deep Husky Jerks will work in the deeper water and along the ledges, but once again, a slow retrieve will be necessary.
