Hey anglers. Here is your January Dale Hollow report, water temps are in the low 40's near the dam and high 30's up the lake by Lillydale. Some days the fish are biting and some days they are not. It's been kinda tough for me recently but if you put your time in you will find fish. Been catching a few on the Tailspinner but Float and Fly has been the biggest producer for me this year. Which is great because I love fishing the bobber. The fish have been in weird spots this winter, one spot they will be real tight to the bank and the next spot it seems they are in the middle of the pockets. They follow the bait, so if the bait is in the middle so are they.



Most of the fish I'm been catching are healthy and eating good, so that's a good sign. Beware up the lake, there is quite a bit of ice out there. Any pocket that gets little to no sun is frozen over but the main lake and the main body of the creeks are good to go. I did go inside a few marinas to get gas, but that proved near impossible. Either I could boat up to the gas pump and thru had no gas or the no wake zone was frozen. Willow Grove had gas and was accessible only to the gas island. From the gas pumps back to the very back was frozen with 1"-1.5" of ice. It was wild to say the least. I'm glad my boat lift isn't up the lake cause I wouldn't be fishing at all. Call ahead to where you plan on going to make sure the boat ramp and marinas are accessible. Be safe out there.
