WEST POINT LAKE IS DOWN 4.91 FEET, STAINED & 47 DEGREES
Bass fishing is fair and the largemouth and the spots are moving into coves and points lake wide. These fish are following the shad that are looking for warm water. A good pattern for catching a largemouth is to go up river in the area just below the Franklin Bridge. Fish the stained upper reaches of the lake with Texas rigged worms. Flipping jigs should also be productive for bass fishermen. Spots are located down lake in the mouths of main coves and are scattered in 12 to 20 feet of water. Use the Carolina rigged worms in black, pumpkinseed, dark green and fish road beds. The McGee road bed is always one of the best spots.
Hybrids and whites are roaming and waiting for the water to settle down. Fishermen might catch a few using popping corks, half to three quarters ounce all white Rooster Tails and he Sassy Shad. In a few weeks, hybrid fishing will be at its best with good early morning and late afternoon action. Watch for the sea gulls diving and you will find hybrids feeding. The area out from McGee Access is good for hybrids in the fall. Across from Yellow Jacket Creek ramp is also a good area.
Crappie are moving into the creek and deeper structure early is best. After mid day, go to the middle of the creek and find any structure and work live minnows at 12 feet over brush and on deeper trees.
