LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 10.1 FEET, STAINED & 48 DEGREES

Bass fishing has turned on and it took 18 pounds to win a tournament last week. Fish are schooled up in areas and can be caught suspended in the 8 to 10 foot range and even shallower. Crank baits like the little john DD, scroungers tip with big bite jerk minnow, soft plastic Swim baits like the 3.5 DR color big bite Cain thumper on fished on a 3/16 ounce jig head is the ticket. Look for schools on main lake and secondary points. Lowrance electronics with side imaging will make this a lot easier.

Line side fishing is fair. The shad kill is starting to show signs of slowing down. We believe we will start seeing decent numbers again in the next week .Right now we are targeting the backs of the creeks from Cooper Branch to as far north as Kellogg's Creek. Gizzard shad and small thread fin shad fished on free lines and planner boards earlier and then again late in the day in the back of the main lake creeks are working. Once the sun comes up the fish are moving out the mouth of the creeks and into the river and Creek channels, and can be caught on down lines and umbrella rigs. We are targeting the secondary points and the mouth of main lake pockets. Once the water warms to 60 degrees we look for these fish to move north to Little River and the Delta to stage for the spawn run. We really believe this is going to be the best spring bite we have seen in years. It's been a long winter, but spring and great fishing is just weeks away.
