CLARKS HILL IS FULL, UPPER 70’S DEGREES & STAINED

Bass fishing is good. Crank the banks that hold rock and wood as well as the flats. The jointed Shad Rap in the fire tiger and natural shad color. Use the fire tiger only in the stained water. Jigs will work but use the lighter ¼ ounce size for best results. The larger sizes get caught up in the grass and the bass just aren't hitting them as well. Color choices for the plastics will be the white, pink and yellow colors. The lighter watermelon green colors are working and try to stay with the lightest shade possible. Top water baits like the Skitter Walk and Chug Bug are producing early in the morning hours while working the coves and smaller deeper creeks. The water may be a little stained up in the Little River area. Take along a variety of baits for the trip. Work the points and flats, especially those that are holding grass with Rapala Scatter Raps and Husky Jerks. The bigger bass are now relating to the grassy areas and are holding tight. Floating worms and flukes are working for some anglers but your best bet for that plastic bite is a 6 inch worm with little or no weight. Toss this bait right on top of the grass and let it sink.
