  • Captain TJ Cheek started fishing the waters of St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, St. Mary’s, and Cumberland Island with his father, grandfather, and uncles back in the 1980′s. Since then he has had the opportunity to learn from some of the best fishermen and guides on the east coast.

  • Tripletail Fishing is ON! Cobia Bite Still Strong

The Tripletail fishing has been awesome! We always see the size of the fish get smaller and smaller as we go from April into late May. Well, this year was no different but over the last few days there have been some really nice fish out there.

The shrimp boats are trawling in state waters now, so they are dragging through the Tripletail grounds and we’ll have to fight over our fishing area. Sadly, they’re bigger than us and they don’t care if you’re in the way.

The inshore bite was good prior to the full moon. The last couple of days we have seen the water get really dirty and the bite has suffered. Once we pass this moon phase things should get back in order and the bite should be strong again.

Offshore the Cobia fishing is still strong and there are plenty of Amberjack, Red Snapper, Spadefish, and Barracuda. Kingfish are starting to show up as well.
