LAKE RUSSELL IS FULL, CLEAR & 83 DEGREES
Bass fishing is barely fair with all the rains and the high water temperatures this month. Bass can still be caught with a little patience. Tie a Zoom trick worm and rig it Texas style and peg the sinker so the sinker does not move up and down the line. The heavier the cover you can find the better. Way up the Savannah River and in Beaver Dam Creek are local areas for shallow early and late bass activity during the summer. Flip or pitch the worms into the cover and watch the line as it falls. The lighter the weight you can use, the better the results. Spotted bass along with largemouth are holding tight to cover during the day. Down below the 72 Bridge, use Rapala DT16 crank baits in shad and baby bass to crank the deep water just off the rocky points. Bass are using the areas to stage and keep in cooler water. Long casts and slow retrieves is all it will take to trigger a strike. Ask Ken for a sample of the BASS FISHING LAKE RUSSELL book.
