LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 14.4 FEET, STAINED & LOW 50’S
Bass fishing is great. The Alabama rig bite with Big bite 3.5 Pearl can thumpers is great. This bite my slow some after the late week rain we've had but should pick back up soon. We are also mixing things up with a single swim bait as well. The fish are holding in 12 to 15 feet of water and are not to hard to locate off points and mouths of the creeks. Use the Lowrance Structure Scan technology to make this easier. As of late there hasn't been great moment out of the schools due to the shad staying put. The jig bite is good and will take off soon. The Float n Fly bite is good and improve all month and then into January. The Red Rooster Carters special on a 10 foot Sunline fluorocarbon leader fish on bluff wall with a slight breeze will be the ticket. The 1/2 on a spoon and drop shot Big Bite 3.5 jointed jerk minnow are working for fish that are suspending a little deeper. There are still plenty of fish on the main lake rock banks and points to be caught Finesse fishing. Cast a 3/16 Shaky Head tipped with a Prizm Krawler 6” Robo Worm. This is a great way to catch numbers. Also, you can fish these same areas with a Drop Shot. The Drop Shot fish are biting smaller shad shaped baits better than worms. A couple of good choices of these baits are the Skinny Bear Shad, a Live Shad by Robo Worm, or the Zoom Tiny Fluke. Shad colors are producing best.

Line side fishing is good. The fish are on the move and can be caught anywhere from Little River to Iron Hill. This is usually the time of year we put the cast net and fish exclusively with small trout and umbrella rigs. Early mornings we put out a full spread, planner boards, free lines and down lines. After 9am, we switch to all down lines and after 10 am we pull umbrella rigs. We see the bite is starting to pick back up and should be in full swing all this week. Trolling has been my best bite for numbers, but we have also caught some nice fish this week on planner boards and down lines. Mid lake is still holding a lot of fish. We look for these fish to start to move south and or to the back of the creeks in the coming weeks.
