Inshore Fishing Report
If you live in or near Savannah, Georgia you already know that this past week has been very warm and the fish have responded quite well. With water temperatures hanging in the mid fifties the fish have loved every minute of it. And they have shown their support by feeding on just about anything that you care to throw at them. I need to finish that last statement with as long as it is live shrimp or mud minnows or artificial scented or not shrimp patterns or flukes or paddle tails or jigs. I think you get my point. Yes, as always it is all about location, location, and more location. Inshore fishermen have been catching some nice spotted sea trout and red fish. And some have even brought home a few nice flounder.
However, it is January and we fishermen all know that the weather can change this week and it probably will! I have been watching the predictions for the upcoming week and let’s just say, “We just might be getting a small bit of winter time!”
Captain Barry Bazemore and Dr Steve Fabrizio decided to do a little fishing, which as you can see from pictures below ended up being some nice catching!
Dr. Steve Fabrizio is holding up a nice red fish that gladly took him up on his worked artificial bait. From the looks of his bait used it seems purple and silver flake soft bait was the ticket to this ride.
A great fisherman smile!
Dr. Steve is at it again and what he is using for bait, well let’s see….soft artificial threaded on to small jig heads. I have to say, “When the water gets on the cool side the colors of the fish certainly do stand out! What do we have here? Two nice spotted sea trout that had the exact same idea!
Captain Matt Williams is showing us a spring/summer catch in the winter!
Captain Matt Williams and his spotted sea trout line up. These fish could not pass up his bait offering of live shrimp and worked DOA shrimp patterns.
Artificial Reef Report!
For those fishermen that want a short boat ride to the fish I suggest making one of the artificial reefs your destination.
Savannah Snapper Banks!
Still a great place to catch a little of everything! However, please know that grouper season is closed and should open on May 1. As of this time trigger fish is opened January 1, 2015

Stephen Thompson Shows Us The Way!
Stephen Thompson is holding a nice black fin tuna that he caught while fishing the South Ledge this past week!
It is that time of the year where blue water trolling and catching come into play! Captain Little Tommy once again has proven that if you go you will know and in his case you will catch!
January 2, 2015 Friday
Captain Tommy Williams while running the boat Mistress along with Zack Proveaus, Stephen Thompson, Cameron Cohn, Madison Daly, and James Daly had a great blue water fishing day.
According to the report sent to me by Captain Little Tommy Williams the South Ledge is holding some pretty interesting catching opportunity! While trolling this area, Captain Tommy, pulled small dinks baits and cedar plugs. The black fins were holding deep, but these lures brought them closer to the surface. After all a fish has got to eat when the opportunity arises!
Meet the blue water fishing team and the fish that they caught!

From looking at this picture it looks like the team had a great day catching black fins and Mahi Mahi!
It’s time to wet a line.
