A little cool, a whole lot windy and a great February Saturday on the lake! This past weekend was more like a March Saturday than an early February Wintry one. While the temperature was in the 40's when we started our AM trip, it was near 70 degrees when I was cleaning fish from the PM trip. There was one constant for the entire day and that was a strong Southwest Wind that certainly resembled those we encounter every Spring in Texas! The wind kept us from fishing several of our recent Honey Holes, but it didn't keep us from catching fish!



Adam and I conducted AM trips with regulars Jud Waldrip and two young men from his DFW workplace. Also Jon Kafka and his 10 year old Son Matthew (Picture) from Plano took their first trip with us! Roy & Lynn Waldrep (Pictures) and their friend Larry made the trip all the way from Alvin to fish with me in the PM. It was a Happy Birthday Trip for Roy!



The fishing was a challenge with the strong wind, but Matthew caught his biggest Catfish ever and all three Parties went home with plenty of fresh filets for their Fish Fry. We continue to catch Catfish in the timbered areas of the Richland Creek Arm of the Lake. Saturday's fish were caught on Danny Kings Punch Bait on a #4 treble hook in 32 feet of water. Watch where the Cormorants and Pelicans are roosting and you'll find the Catfish in the same area.
