Inshore Fishing Report! Still a hero or zero kind of fishing
Best Sheepshead bite can be found at artificial reefs located in 45 feet and best big black sea bass bite can be found in reefs found in 55 feet of water.
Well, this past week has been a little off and on when it came to the old inshore fish bite.
Well not much has changed inshore…still a hero or zero kind of fishing…which boils down to if the keeps shining after it get straight up on any given day chances are better for some sort of an inshore bite than not…
Savannah’s weather continues to amaze me with its warmer and colder days that normal for this time of the year…well as we all say it’s a Savannah weather kind of a thing!
Artificial Reef Report
It was beautiful weekend offshore with calm seas and lots of sunshine. With this being said, “The fish were biting and the fishermen were catching!”
Sheepshead are also known as convict fish!
With our highs last week in the mid fifties the inshore and near shore water temperatures fell quite a bit. In most cases especially in the morning water temps were high forties to low fifties…even the near shore artificial reefs got pulled into this cold chill. The artificial reefs located in less than 45 feet of water were sporting a warm 50 degrees surface temp. To get above 52 degrees you had to move offshore about 10 miles…
Artificial reefs in 45 feet or less of water held the interest of some nice Sheepshead. Bites were plentiful, because Sheepshead didn’t have to fight with the black sea bass for their dinner. Once you reach about 55 feet of water the artificial located at this depth were holding lots of very large black sea bass. The bite was on fire! So all and all it wasn’t so bad fishermen got the best of both worlds, which boiled down to Sheepshead at 45 feet and black sea bass at 55 feet…

Team Chillin & Reelin fished the Atlanta Saltwater Sportsman's Club 28th annual Sailfish Tournament in West Palm Beach, Florida Jan 29, 30, 31.
The team landed 7 out of 12 Sailfish hooked. Using live goggle eyes for bait suspended from kites, the team found most of the fish in the 90' to 100' depth range. Captain John Roche and Wendy Coates caught their first ever sails, each of them catching three total. Pictured is the team at the awards banquet from L to R: Clay Holt, Scott Rowe, Wendy Coates, Ryan Howard, Captain John Roche, and Ben Lazar.
