Tarpon action has kicked into high gear. The fish are in the 30 - 90 pound class and are feeding readily. Last night, the DiMaggio Family experienced the thrills of catching tarpon. A good shrimp run had the tarpon popping baits off the surface and jumping on our offerings very quickly. During the first hour of the trip, I could not get two baits out because the tarpon fed so quickly. By the end of the night, the count was 4 for 8 tarpon. Meanwhile, offshore the strongest and most consistent action has been with kingfish. A few other species in the form of AJ's, bonito, sailfish, or mahi-mahi could crash in on the action. Mahi fishing gets much better when the wind has blown from the east for a few days.
