Bass fishing is good. The fish have been relatively shallow and can be found in a variety of areas hitting a variety of baits. Fish from the main lake to secondary points and back in the pockets. Fish the wood cover and docks along the way, with a slight preference for the underside of floating docks over stationary docks and posts. Net Boy Screwball jig heads and Flippin Jigs have performed very well on bottom, on wood, and on the fall. When the bite on moving baits slows, these baits get the bite. Spinnerbaits and Chatterbaits are now becoming a priority search tactic for shallow active fish. The water color has been right for chartreuse and gold blade baits. It will likely be chartreuse and white or white, in clear areas by the weekend. Eventual clear water may call for pearl flukes on a Fish Head Spin. Fire tiger hard baits have been the right color when they want a crank, but the clearing water will have me throwing pearl and craw colors as the stain lightens. Go with natural shad colors as the water turns clear. Warmer water also means baits with a wider wobble, such as Bandit 200, are increasing in productivity. Nearly never count out a Shad Rap and a lipless baits too.
