Last week we highlighted the walleye spawning project, where fisheries biologists collect a few spawning walleye and produce hundreds of thousands of fingerlings to stock throughout the state. This week, those same biologists are busy collecting a few striped bass, spawning them in a hatchery atmosphere and returning them to the waters they came from. Unlike walleye, stripers don't reproduce naturally in Arkansas lakes (except for a handful of fish in Dardanelle and the Arkansas River). Without the efforts of these biologists working around the clock, striped bass opportunities many anglers enjoy in Arkansas wouldn't exist.
