  • Lake Oconee Fishing Report - GA

LAKE OCONEE IS FULL, STAINED UP THE RIVERS CLEAR ON MAIN LAKE, 65 TO 72 DEGREES

Bass fishing is good. The lake is full. The shad spawn is in full swing. At daylight the bass will be close to bank looking for the spawning bait. Use a spinner bait fished along sea walls and rip rap to target these fish. Work the middle of the coves and main lake creeks. Fish boat docks, wood structure, and sea walls. Work your way to the back of the coves and creeks. Use Shad Raps and small crank bait with rattles fished on sea walls and around docks. Later in the day when the sun gets up move to the docks and fish a shaky head under docks in the same area.

Striper fishing is good. The fish are at the dam for the spring run. Some fish are also showing up in the rivers. Live bait fished on down lines along with flat lines and plainer boards will pick up fish. There are also fish showing up mid lake on the humps live bait and spoons will work on these fish.

Crappie fishing is good. The fish are in the back of the coves and creeks and on wood structure. Use minnows and jigs fished into the timber. You can also troll in the middle to the back of the creeks as some of the fish have moved back out of the spawning areas into deeper water.

Make sure you stop by Sugar Creek Marina and pick up your spoons and all your tackle needs. You can also book your Crappie and striper trips with Reel Time Guide Service at 404 803 0741 or [email protected]
